Dead Sword

This is more like pondering than an actual theory, but if you can help develop one, great.
I just remembered one of (if not the most) my favorite minibosses in TP, the Dead Sword, you might remembered how cool his zanbatou was(litterally: horse slayer, or something like that)
Actually, that enemy had a lot of Japanese influences in it, from the zanbatou, the way it was 'sealed' and his robes.
So I found myself wondering, what is that thing?
How cookie could it have been that they had to make a special room for him?
Maybe he was some sort of general or a berserker assasin (o, how lovely would that be).
Unfortunately, there is little to no evidence as to what it was, but thinking of it as a lawn mower berserker helps me sleep at night. If you have anything to add PLEASE do.

The only thing I can add to this is that I wish Nintendo would release information (via book form or on the internet) that cannot be derived from the game.  Sure, it would take out some of the open-endedness (it's a word because I say it's a word!) out of the series, but people have been creating alternate universes anyway.

Yeah, it would be nice to know, having an apendix would be useful.

Back to the theory, I'm going to go ahead and guess that since the Dead Sword turns into beetles after you kill it, the bearer of the word was horribly mummified. Then, his spirit stained the sword to the point that the sages probably had to seal it away. To prevent any other prisioner from releasing the Death Sword, it had to be locked away in its own room.
