Well, the article looking at The Legend of Zelda has been posted for several days now, and I think it went pretty well. I only got a few replies here in the Forum topic concerning LoZ, but I'm hoping that as time goes on we'll get more of a response with the games.

That said, next month's article is going to focus on The Adventure of Link. It may be seen as the odd one out of the series, but there are still people out there who call it a masterpiece of the Zelda games. What do you all like about the game, what makes it stand out, and how do you think it managed to make a [positive] name for itself?

MagmarFire

For me, it was fresh. I mean, there really aren't that many side-scrolling games in the Zelda series. :P

It still keeps the exploration feel of the series, all the while emitting a "scent" reminiscent of Ancient Greek, Renaissance, and those strange head-like statues that seen in one of the Tetris Plus levels for Classic Mode.

The gameplay was also even closer to what we all probably call a more "classical RPG feel" because of the experience point system. You can say that I'm a person who received that portion well.

So yeah. Great game. Hard, still haven't beaten it; but hey, you can't look past it.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

In many ways, I am among those who do not care as much for this game as the other Zelda games. However, there are a few things I like about it:

The story was quite good, and a considerable improvement over that of the first LoZ. As for the music, while I generally prefer Koji Kondo, it had some memorable themes (such as the one featured in Super Smash Bros.)

Also, I believe this was the first game where Dark Link / Shadow Link was introduced -- my personal favorite enemy, if you can't tell from my name.

Getting healed for free at any town was good. And having magic is kinda cool, that's something that I think they stopped putting in the newer games. And of course the side scrolling made it unique. It was defintly challenging enough, I think most people would agree.  ;D

I personally didn't like this one. I hated the three lives thing. how you had to start over. I also always wondered what happened in the house. I like how the towns are named after sages and other characters from OoT. Or are they named after them?

Hi no Seijin

Zelda II came before OoT, so most of the sages were named after the towns.

Well in the story it's the other way around. So It's a paradox.

Hi no Seijin

Um, no.  Outside the story, the sages were named after the towns.  Inside the story, the towns could have been named after the sages.  If both were true inside the story, then it would be a paradox.

To stay on topic and avoid the Wrath of Alpha, I only really liked the side-scrolling aspects.

Oh ho, it's funny because Alpha IS Wrath and when you use them in the same sentence it's funny, oh ho you're so funny!

In other news, I really loved the music (the highlights being the overworld theme, the temple and cave themes).
The fighting system had a depth that the "overview" Zeldas could never manage to accomplish, although it also made exploration less important, which is a big letdown, at least for me.

Hey! Better than none!

I would conclude saying that people see it as the black sheep because it is a little more action oriented.

Wha?  I'm pretty sure it's Wraith, not Wrath.  You're missing an "i."

And gah!  I forgot the music!

Palace Theme and Great Palace Theme = good.

Of course, Alpha already got his article up.
