Books?

What kind of books do you guys read? Im reading a book series called earthsea, its a good book, Im reading the second one cause the library didn't have the first one darn it, but, once I finish this one, I wanna read the first one, not much longer to wait till they get the first one, hopefully. So, got any good books to share?

I'm reading The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordon.  It's sort of like The Lord of the Rings, but far from it.  And it's usually around 50 chapters, but it's easy to get into.  I need to head over to a bookstore so I can get the fourth book.

I also suggest Jennifer Government by Max Barry.  It's a satire on globalization, and it's hard to put down.

Ok, I'll have to check that out sometime, if I CAN FIND IT! Its not avalable anywhere around here. :( There is this one series called the firewithin, there are two, both excellent books, I've read each twice. :)

The only thing I can recommend are stuff of disillusionment. Stuff by sci fi writers of long ago are really really relevant today. I'd recommend such paranoic thrillers as 'do androids dream of electric sheep?' and 'A scanner Darkly' Both By philip K. Dick.

Ray Bradbury is hands down my favorite modern author, hee hee... his writing is so very very imaginative and colorful!

I love history books and I buy way too many despite having little time to read these days. The book I am currently reading is Rubicon: The Last Days of the Roman Republic. Next in line is Julius Norwich's A History of Venice, followed by Confrontation at Lepanto, and then a few primary source books from the Byzantine Empire (The Alexiad, The Secret History, and Fourteen Byzantine Rulers). The last book I finished was A Short History of Byzantium by Norwich.

How boring am I?   :o

your not boring, that first one actualy sounds a little interesting... hey jack, if you read those books, you should check out soldiers heart, by gary paulson, that book is awsome.

Uh, I love reading so much but the books I read are very teen girl (doi, which I am) oriented.
I love Louise Rennison she is an awesome writer and her series of books with such titles as "startled by his furry shorts" and "then he ate my boy entrancers" lmao they are funny AS!
That said I have read a few discworld novels which are great.
And I also just finished a book called "How I live now" which although it is my kinda age group was really weird. It was set in a war in our time and Britain was occupied, she also fell in love with her cousin. It was good but strange.

Only thing I read is fantasy. Originally I only had books written by Tolkien, but then I decided I needed variation. Fortunately, there's a shop in town called Outland (Avalon back then) that sells lots of different fantasy stuff, like books, role-playing games, dragon sculptures, swords, etc.

First I bought the Darkness series by Harry Turtledove, and the Arrandin Trilogy by Marcus Herniman. The Darkness series is kind of based on WWII, except in a world of magic and dragons. The books are, from first to final, Into the Darkness, Darkness Descending, Through the Darkness, Rulers of the Darkness, Jaws of Darkness, and finally Out of the Darkness.

The Arrandin Trilogy clearly has some inspirations from The Lord of the Rings, but it has enough originality to stand on its own. The books are The Siege of Arrandin, The Treason of Dortrean, and The Fall of Lautun. In The Siege of Arrandin the Lautun Empire is going through religious conflicts when a large army of Easterners cross the borders and strikes for the city of Arrandin.

I've been reading a bit of Stephen King lately.  Also I've been reading politcal books.  Up next is How to Talk to a Liberal(If you Must) by Ann Coulter.  Now nobody take this the wrong way, I'm not that Conservative, I just want to see what she has to say.

and The Stand (longest book, over 1200 pages)

I'm currently reading "lord of the Flies". Shows what happens when society falls apart.

Has anyone ever read any of gary paulsen books? I think his books are just so, well, awsome, soldiers heart was a great book, I recomend it.
