Is Link really the name for the hero?

Anywho, I'm not entirely sure, but I think the trainers you play as in the Pokemon series have official names as well.

Yes, they do, for the most part. For instance, the main (male) character in RBY and FR/LG is called Red, and the female in FR/LG is often referred to as Leaf. And of course, the trainers' names for the Advance generation are Brendan and May.

Depends which ones, I can only remember Team Rocket and your Rival is called Gary offically. I don't know if the character you play as is supposed to be Ash or not.

Actually, I believe your rival's name is officially called Blue. It's kind of a different situation in the anime because the main character is a character all his own, not a character that each one of us chooses to be when we play.

Heh, I just realized the Red vs. Blue parallel that Red and Blue have.

Ahhh right. I know that 'Blue' and 'Gary' are the same character because in both the game and the anime Prof. Oak refers to him as his grandson, plus they have an identical look.

I just really think it is very unlikely for all of the heroes in the series to have all been born with the SAME NAME. Thats what I am saying.
