An interesting thought...

In Zelda II, we know the majority of the towns appear to be named after the sages from Ocarina of Time, correct?

Then what about Kasuto? What is this town, exactly?

I like to think of Kasuto as a town that was a center for knowledge and learning, but was most unfortunately destroyed in war, probably between Hyrule and Ganon/dorf.

What I want to know is why there's a town named after Mido?  Now, I know Zelda II came before Ocarina of Time and it was actually the sages named after the towns, but in-universe, what did he do that was big enough to warrant naming a town after him?  Or was there another Mido running around in Hyrule's history?

Was there seriously a town named after Mido? Huh, I guess I forgot about that.

Yeah, it was above that desert with the graveyard in it.  It was the town you visited before going over to Eastern Hyrule.  Undoubtedly a port town; most likely a center of power for Hyrule's navy.

Thinking in-game universe...

Mido was Link's friend in OoT. They just fought... A LOT. But Mido's sadness when you return as an adult and try to get to the forest temple proves it.

So maybe their friendship made it possible that the town is named after him.

Well, Link really didn't seem to say anything from the player's point of view, so I guess it's possible that he silently said it to Zelda or something. I guess I can see it happening.

Mido was the protector of a sage.  It's not know how much he knew about Saria or whether he just thought of her as a good friend, but if it weren't for him Saria may not have been able to realize her duty.

I think HnS is right on the money with Kasuto.  Its name may have been erased from history by the fires of war.
