to get back on topic, here is a theory for the song:

when young link visited  the windmill dude(ill call him Guru-Guru), Guru-Guru got insperation to write the song, but got annoyed with it by the time old link got to him because that was the only song he knew, so he taught it to old link without realizing that it was same person
