Walkthrough writers?

We could probably link it to the main site and eventually merge it with the compendium.  People are far more familiar with the Wiki layout and honestly the Compendium is pretty outdated in terms of the way it's arranged.

Um, I don't want to be the guy to say this, but it doesn't seem like we've had a single walkthrough update since Twilight Princess...which was, what? SIX years ago? We don't even have Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks up yet!

It is my personal belief that before we start thinking about a game that hasn't been released yet, we need to get the whole thing up to date on the games that HAVE been released.

Unless we were already talking about that...whatever you guys do is fine...Just ignore me...



EDIT: Okay, maybe we do have Phantom hourglass, but I still see no Spirit Tracks. Besides, on the front page of the website, it says "Our Twilight Princess guide keeps expanding!" We really need to do something about that.

If we really wanted a wiki-style interface for this that isn't the Compendium (which is seriously old code anyways), I could always install one on TDC itself. That isn't a big deal, like, at all. The hardest part is everyone learning the syntax. I've done it before for HA2, and that was before I could make databases.

HOWEVER, walkthroughs are silly, guys. I don't think anyone really goes to Zelda sites for walkthroughs anymore. I'm not sure anyone ever did... although I do seem to remember one of you actually showing up at TDC initially because of a walkthrough. (Was it ZV? I can't remember exactly.)

People nowadays just go to GameFAQs. I mean, sure, it'd be nice to be one of the first sites with a Skyward Sword walkthrough, but ZV is right: someone will beat us to it. That person will probably post it to GameFAQs.

I have my video recording thing set up through my Wii, which I can use to record myself playing through the game on my first run-through. But that would be more of a Let's Play than anything else, and people probably won't sit through it for walkthrough info. (I still have that file for the Wind Waker Let's Play, I just haven't split it up yet  )

I'm up for whatever you guys want to do, and I'll install a wiki if you want, but I don't think TDC should worry so much about walkthroughs.

I hate to admit it, but kamakazi's right. I don't know how well-known a TDC Skyward Sword walkthrough would get when the first thing that people see when they type in "such-and-such walkthrough" to Google is GameFAQs. If we really want to shoot for a Skyward Sword walkthrough and make it be seen by other people other than just the TDC regulars, we might as well make it...appealing. You know, different to what you normally see on GameFAQs (or at least what I normally see when I go on to GameFAQs). I know Zelda Dungeons takes screenshots to go along with their walkthroughs which I find very helpful and some other sites I know have video walkthroughs and I know some walkthrough writers add sassy comments in their walkthroughs which I guess can be either annoying or entertaining. For example, in a walkthrough for ShadowGate 64, this one person kept referring to the main villain as "the crazy old wizard" which made me laugh every time I read it. Just some ideas.
