Allow guests again?

I think the wall I set up preventing guests from posting without registering may be hurting forum growth. Do we want to try taking down the wall for a week or so and see if the spam bots attack (note: the other anti-spam methods would be kept intact)?

Could we allow guests to view the forums, but not let them post?  That would stop the spam-bots, right?

I had that option checked, but then someone guest posted, remember? I still have it on, though.

On several forums I've visited, I have had the fortune to view what was going on as a guest. I was not able to really post until I was registered. But I think it would be somewhat of a good idea, to follow suite. IE: Guests reading, but no posting.

It almost seems as if this is a private site, instead of the fun public place it is.

I think so, too. It can be such a pain to have to log in to see how active the forums are at that time.

Yeah, it puts me off registering at a site if I cant read what goes on. It lets people know if they like the sort of stuff we talk about and what we are like etc.

I think we should as well. I told a few people about this place, and they don't even have e-mail. But neither do I! I have to use my dad's E-mail address for heavens sake!

Alright, I think it's pretty unanimous thus far. I'll open up the gates and if there are any problems they'll close back again.
