I've noticed that people are using the word @** more than usual around here. I won't give any names (I really don't need to), but starting here and now, it needs to stop. I feel that I've been quite lenient regarding that word; however, starting now, I'm kicking it up a notch.

I'm giving every member of TDC this warning: if you use that word, or any other word considered taboo around here, you will be warned for it, given that you've been a member here for at least a week. No exceptions.

I say this mainly because whenever someone uses these words, I'm worried that if I warn him or her, I'll be treating him or her unfairly. But now I've warned you all with this topic, so that's all the mini-warning you need. I'll let Gamefreak make any necessary changes to this method if he sees it fit.

This is no longer policy. Disregard it.

No, not at all.  It was an issue that needed addressing.

That was a questionable call for me as well, but I'll just listen to Mags on this one.

Yeah, I guess I overdid it, didn't I? ;)

Yes, yes you did. Tone down the angst. Seriously.

Here's a warning to you- much more of this anger may make the forums seem a hostile place. If the forums aren't enjoyable, your rules don't matter, since you won't have anyone to impose them on.

Now, the thing is... I'm assuming this refers to ass. The UK equivalent here is arse. Would that count? (also, given the UK use of arse, it barely seems worthy of a warning.)

The way you enforce this seems a little strange, honestly.  There's a huge gap between, say:

"I'm sorry I was such an (word in question)"

and

"Man, I'd tap that (word in question)"

However, both are equally punished.  Just because children join these forums doesn't meant that we do not have the right to speak freely without using s e v e r e language, and I wouldn't consider 'ass' to be a severe vulgarity.

So, think more about this.  It's not necessarily a horrible word, unless used in the wrong context (or with a few certain suffixes).

warning! just kidding

i see your point though, which is why we are allowed to say damn and hell, but that word is an insult in itself, so it is warnable

I have to agree with Tacheon Black here. It's a bit... much for this. I wouldn't give a warning for every single swear, what would the point be? The thing is that context and judgment have to be used. So that means you have to think critically of the act 'is it really so offensive to be warnable?' instead of being a totalitarian and give punishment at every instance of the case.

Mysterious F.

I agree with Maggy-san to an extent. Yes, censored swears are still swears, but censorship isn't anywhere near as bad. I suggest the mods and admins think this through, but I'll support any decision they all come up with.

MagmarFire

By popular demand, I have toned down my post. I apologize if I came across as rude.

Anyway, Whocares, I'm not concerned about censored words. I think they're appropriate. But when they aren't is where it gets serious on my part. The thing is, I don't think I've ever seen the word being used severely on TDC, so based on precedence, wouldn't that make every useage of that word warnable, JQ? Unless, of course, the word is being used as an example or part of one and not as a directly-used modifier?

oh yeah

Um.....ok?  Seems a bit spammy to me.  I'll have to put you down for a warning for that Sarge.  You know better.

Insults are what's important in terms of that, and the reason the words are taboo is because of their inflammatory usages. But What if it's not used in an inflammatory manner?

Zelda Veteran

so does that mean that "@$$" isn't allowed either? Because thats one of my favs :-*

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.
