RE: The Goddesses...

I just needed to say something since the topic is old...lol

QuoteAlso-- if the Goddess of the Sand gets a temple devoted to her (The Spirit Temple, kids), then why don't the Three get a temple as well?  I mean, they may have the Sacred Realm and the Temple of Time, but those aren't really technically devoted to them.

I think there ARE three temples devoted to the three Goddesses.

Farore - The Forest Temple (The Deku Tree, The Forest Temple in Twilight Princess, the Swamps, etc)

Din - The Fire Temple (The Goron Mines, Ikana, etc)

Nayru - The Water Temple (Lakebed Temple, Snowpeak, Snowhead, etc)

:D I hope this isn't spamming...

Hi no Seijin

I have problems with Ikana and Snowhead being temples devoted to Din and Nayru, respectively.  The three goddesses aren't deities in Termina; or at least recognized deities.  The Triforce does appear in Termina, but in all the cases you can see it, it's in Ikana (a rather ancient place as the game suggests) and they are all being disrespected (people licking them).  So even if Din, Nayru, and Farore were once recognized in Termina, evidence suggests that they were not respected.  I once again invoke this article to explain in greater detail what I'm trying to say.

Also, what was so wrong about replying the thread itself?  Or did some freaky thing happened where you thought you replied to the thread, but it actually started a new one?

That does not imply disrespect. We know absolutely nothing about Ikanian culture, its customs, or how it functioned, so it'd probably be best if you didn't make blanket statements like this.

Also, maybe they're just, you know, triangles. The shape that we call the Triforce isn't exactly uncommon in our history, so I don't know why we all jump to conclusions with stuff like this. It is three equilateral triangles arranged to form a larger equilateral triangle. It's really not that hard to see how it could be independently created from the Triforce, especially since there's no evidence that Termina or Hyrule have had any sort of contact whatsoever. It could mean a multitude of any religious, cultural, political, or artistic things.

Outlandish theories and sexual hang-ups do not evidence make.

You are also clearly wrong about this point as well. This is clearly the work of some forum demon.

Shame on you.

Anyway, as to the OP, I don't see why there's any reason to believe that those temples are in any way related to the Goddesses. Especially the Great Deku Tree. How can a living, talking, sapient being be a temple to anything? The others are only related to the Goddesses in the loosest possible ways.

Well, if you want to get geometrically technical, it's actually four equilateral triangles formed into a larger one, totaling five. ;)

Still, I think I've developed a small theory that's possibly easily disprovable. On second thought, I can easily find a counterpoint to it, but it's just thinking a bit outside the box. What if the Hylians really don't know much at all about the goddesses? What if they only know that there are deities that created Hyrule and know hardly anything else, other than that they're said to be the "race that can hear them"?

If you think about it, the temples could vastly be more connected to the cultures of the races, rather than to the goddesses themselves. That would possibly explain why there's a Shadow Temple and Spirit Temple instead of only the temples representing fire, earth/wind, and water. Most, if not all, of the temples that Link goes through are close to the race most affiliated with that element.

And as an instance, I have doubt that the Forest Temple represents Farore. The key word here is forest. According to the Great Deku Tree, "Farore . . . created all life forms that would uphold the law." If it were to represent Farore, wouldn't it be called the Life Temple, then? Or something along those lines? I dunno...

What I'm saying there is that life probably shouldn't be restricted to forest.

Nuh-uh, there is a space in the middle, not another triangle.

But anyway: wow. I don't think I've ever agreed with someone that much in my life. Those are pretty much my thoughts exactly, MagmarFire.

Though I think the "race that can hear them" is just unfounded boasting of Hylian racial supremacy.

I had just finished reading a topic where you said not to do something of the sort before I posted that.  Now I feel stupid. ???

I thought it was illegal to reply to old threads on TDC...  ::)

Oh yeah, I was tired last night so I wasn't thinking strait lol

TP Zelda, it's not against the rules to necropost if there's still discussion value in the old topic. If you have something truly thoughtful and substantial to add to a theory, then by all means, post in the old topic.

Yayz! :D

That's a pretty strong theory. After all, in OoT, the same guy that tells Link that Hylians were born with long ears to hear the voice of the goddesses...also told him that he had heard none! Thus, it's either stronger in some than others, or that the idea itself is just untrue. I'll wager more toward the latter than the former.

Sorry, but I'm not much of a debater.  I went to a high school debate once (I was trying out for the debate team).  I fell asleep during one of the debates; needless to say, I didn't join the team.  So please excuse my lack of debating. ;)

In the intro of WW the middle triangle, or the empty spot seamed like the Light Force from MC.
