Alright guys, it's that time again.

Now, this shouldn't be too unexpected: Jack's done it his fair share of times, and the site has been... lacking... in updates. Sorely. I'm talking about hiring new staff members.

I figured I'd come here first since, I know all of you care about TDC, right?  ;) Also, I know there's a lot of talent to be found here and I plan to bring it to the surface... Not... Not that it was hidden or anything. >.>

Anyways, what I'd really like are people who can update on the main page: basically news reporters. People who can post every bit of news they can find, on the Zelda series (hopefully). Will this be difficult? Yes. Is it possible? Yes. Do I think anyone here can do it? Yes. Am I being a total question-talker right now? Yes.

If you think you can fill this particular position, post here RIGHT NOW. Or as soon as possible. Also, anyone who wants to the job must submit a sample of their work. It should be the same caliber as any posts they plan to make. Now, I know most of you don't have sample articles lying around, waiting for me to say I need help so that you can giddily submit it and take the website by storm with your innovative and informative forays into the Zelda news world. So, here's a thought: if you think you can take the job but don't have something to submit, pick a Zelda game and write a review for it. That's all, just do it in the same style you think you'd use. Once you think it's ready, submit it. If I need more, I'll tell you, and you'll have another chance. I just need to be sure I'm filling the staff with the right people, eh?

What else? Well, I don't only need news reporters. You guys know TDC better than anyone else, if you think there's something worthy of this site, go for it. Want to write individual rants for every dungeon in the Zelda series? You can do it. Want to thoroughly psychoanalyze some Zelda characters? You can do it. Got something that's not stupid? You can do it. (How did I end up question-talking again?  8))

Just post what you'd like to write here, and we'll see if it'll get its own spot on the main page. Of course, I'll need a sample for these positions as well: but, lucky you, it can just be your first submission.  ;D

What else? Well, if you have another, non-writing position you'd like to fill here on TDC, speak your mind! I'm open to all suggestions (better add "within reason" for safety reasons), so feel free to add to our site here! And yes, I'll need samples for any of these, too.

So, have at it, guys. I hope to see some good offers here, soon? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?  :P For TDC!

I'd love to do it.

But Nintendo, to my knowledge doesn't have any new updates for the Zelda series, up and coming.

The updates might have to be a little dry at first, until a new game is announced.
It would probably be reduced to Virtual Console Updates.

As far as a sample article, Id have to get back to you.

Also a question, what language is this site written in?

Keaton

If the main site needs a new Ezlo at any point in time, I'm up for that.

Also, I'd be happy to fix up a few of the walkthroughs that I've noticed are... lacking... *coughMMcough*

Oh, what's that?  A piece of my work?  Sure.

*doing a cover for A Link to the Past in the style of a reporter when it first came out*

For years the Zelda series has enraptured the children (and adults!) of the world with its unique gameplay and cutting-edge interface.  Well, Nintendo's done it again!  Their newest game, A Link to the Past, features not only the wonderful storyline and high replay value that we've all come to expect of Zelda, it also boasts top-of-the-line 32-bit graphics that are sure to wow kids and grown-ups alike.  Featuring full dialogue, many dungeons, and even an alternate world, this thrilling addition to the series is sure to be the perfect addition to a fan's collection-- and a perfect place for new players to start!

Tada.

Yes, EVE. I think I'll let you take the MM walkthrough on personally. You really know more about the game.

(Sorry for convo-post, sortof)

kamakaziplumber

Offers! Whoooooooooooooop!  ;D

Alright, first, Dragmire: Yeah, I'm aware of the news drought. <.< Still, news is news, and anything you were to submit would contribute. Plus, I'm sure there's other news to be found on the internet.  :) Looking forward to the sample.

And English, of course!  :P No, I hope you meant coding language... code... whatever. It's mostly HTML, really. Some PHP backbone. Simple, even if it is incredibly messy.  ;) Sometimes it's scary, working on the files. And the news, of course, is done via Cutenews: if you're going to do news, I'd just set you up with an account and you'd post via the Cutenews editor. No need for coding, if that's what you meant.

EVE: A reporter would've never mentioned the alternate world! Fail.

Not really. Actually, if you plan to fix up the walkthroughs, a sample isn't too necessary (kind of forgot about the walkthroughs back there, heh). Sample's good for news, though, if you'd like to take a crack at that as well. (A bit... cut-and-dry, which is perfect for the news, although more colorful news is always welcome! Both work fine.) But for walkthroughs, feel free to fix 'em! It'll be complicated, though... I guess you'd have to do a good job of defining exactly what parts you're fixing, so I can update the pages accordingly.

Oh, and Ezlo's doing just fine for now >.> Just a bit stressed as of late, and therefore slow. Silly Minish.

Why of course I'd be happy to.

Also, in case you didn't notice, I stickied the topic.

Sweet!
Thanks Kamakazi!

Also, when I post my sample, it would probably end up being the first news story, seeing as how, I don't really have any other example that would personify my writing at this time.

MagmarFire

I'd love to help in however way I could, too! Lay more of my mark on TDC forever, you know? Maybe a review section?

Don't thank me yet, pal! There's still the sample to consider.  :P And, like I said, you could write a review of any of the Zelda games or some such thing if you can't think of anything. A news report would be great, too, though. Whatever you feel comfortable with, just be sure to make it good.  ;D

Also, to everyone else: don't be afraid to apply for a job that someone else has already asked for. For one, I need people and examples to compare. But, mostly, I'd like to have more than one reporter if possible. After all, there's a better chance for an update with ten people reporting than just one.

(Ten is an exaggeration, of course, though I don't think I'd have to worry about that anyways)

A review section, you say, Magmar? Care to elaborate a bit? Any ideas are welcome.

How many times have I told you, no marking your territory.

The smell drives away new members.

In all seriousness, we could use this to majorly revamp the main page.  Make it fresh and exciting!

FOR INSTANCE-- any chance of having a 'Featured Article' other than the Great Moblin?  Huh?  HUH?

MagmarFire

Well, like you said, the dungeons, as one possibility. (Water Temple from OoT, anyone? :P ) Perhaps I could even do a blog on comparisons in the Zelda world every once in a blue moon. There has been a review format that I would like to try out, and I sort of mentally go through with it at least on a partial scale when I reflect on movies. For instance, you can have a Graphics rating, a Storyline rating, and a Gameplay rating, and the three are often what gamers look for while buying games. It's yet to be developed, but I can always add to it.

For kicks, I can even have (crappily made) visual aides. Eye candy to make it more...attractive.

I may not be a doctor, but I can help you with your visual AIDS.

Seriously.

Check the custom title.

It's official.

kamakaziplumber

Ah ha ha... yeah. Forgot about that! ;)

NEW STAFF POSITION AVAILABLE: Feature Article Finder/Writer! Actually, in all honesty I could do that, but if anyone is willing to do the dirty work for me...

Oh, and just to mercilessly kill any hopes and dreams you all might have (8)) Jack specifically requested that I not change the layout. Sorry, guys.

Magmar, that's sounding pretty cool, but perhaps an example would do best to explain it?  ;) I'm sure you could manage it, you've already sent something in to TDC eh?

(Yes, I did get that thing you sent me. Will be up soon, by the way.)

I could also work with the already excellent Compendium.
I agree, we need the main page to updated weekly, including the featured article, and I do believe that our Twilight Princess stuff has STOPED growing...

MagmarFire

Yayz! :D

And I'll get to work on it as soon as I can to show you.
