These games are hard.

Aeliran, my loathe of the joy feature is because it affords me little to no control of the game.  Even when playing with the NES & SNES controllers I place them on a flat surface top for maximux controll.  I never hold them in my hands. I don't know how I would overcome such a habit.

As for your definition of "WORK".  I find work to be the arduous part of a JOB.  When you have a job to do and you don't get it done the first time, then you create work for yourself.

And you're correct when you say, you may need only 2-3 lives to get to and thru the GREAT PALACE.  Maybe you are that good a player.  However, I'm willing to bet that on your 1st time going to the Palace, 2-3 lives won't get you through the Lava Fields.

ShadowLink was saying he has yet to get to the Palace.  He's having a problem with the Goriyas.  Can you imagine what that Red and Blue Knight will do to him.

Even now when I play this game i insure my safety with at least 10 lives.  No. I don't need them, but suppose I'm having a bad day and nothing is going right. The blue knight is H-O-W and the Red one is just sheer daeth.  What if every time I go to get a bottle of potion from the wall statue it kills me.

And the FIREBIRD! So, I play a safe game.  You however, can go there with just the 2-3 players and survive.  Truth be told, I have learned to traverse the Lava Field and play the Palace without loss of life ... but that's me, not ShadowLink.

As for the dudette.  It's just my way of letting whomever called me a dude know that I'm a female.

Even to this day, I find the original Zelda games as hard as I did when they first came out, in fact harder. I am so used to easy games that come out like clockwork today. I have more trouble beating Shadow Link in Zelda II then any recent game bosses.

Stop saying it's hard!  Lots of people say this game is hard.  IT IS NOT!  I love this game.

Dude, if you know how mentally challanged I am when it comes to playing Zelda, the fact that is hard for me should not surprise you.  I love the game to, I love Zelda, I am just terrible at playing them.  Wind Waker was a challange for me for goodness sake!  Check out my thread in the ALTTP section called "Shadow's Stupid Questions."  Plus, considering that I have the motor skills of a four-year-old, it is insanely hard for me to get link facing in the right direction in with that tiny GAMECUBE D-Pad.  I tried to lower my shield when an Armos is swinging its sword at me low, and I turn around backward.  BOOM!  DEAD!

Now, what are those, "players," you mentioned?
i know really! ive been playing WW since it came out and i still didnt beat it! (im on the triforse shards) but anyways i can beat the levels in loz but i can find the second dungon! i mean the first one was really short, but all in all shuldnt they be easy if their early games?

Well most games today are alot easier then games from the original NES. Of course the reason is obvious and that is game makers do not give a damn about how difficult a game is or even if the storyline is any good, just about getting the game out as fast as possible and to make money. Zelda games seem to get easier and easier each time they come out, I hope this changes with the new one.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with Bg on this one. Games today are easier than the old NES games through advancements in gameplay. A case in point is the original Metroid which you can get hopelessly lost in because they didn't supply a map, or give you any clue where to go next.

The same is true of the old Zelda games. In the first Legend of Zelda, you could get lost and killed by about 10 spear throwing moblins twice before you saw a dungeon. About every third monster held a rupee and the items cost around 100 rupees, meaning that it took forever to buy items.

So it isn't that the games are easier, it's games are easier to play.

That is a good point Red, I did not think about that. But what also makes games alot easier now is the Internet. Back in the old NES the only "free" way to get advice or hints on a game was to ask a friend who already beat the game. Now you can go anywhere on the Internet and get complete walkthroughs for games which in my opinion takes all the fun out of them.

and lets not forget the nintendo hotline, witch costs like $7.00 a minute to talk to some guy named bob ;)

bgrugby

Yeah but who actually does that when, as I said, you can just go on websites like gamefaq and get a complete walkthrough to any game.

Uh huh.I hardly ever read walkthroughs, but I hate LoZ and AoL.They're really hard,I got lost 12 times before I reached Ganon in LoZ,and I lost like 14 out of my 15 lives in the Lava Fields, and only finished off Thunderbird when I was down to one Health Bar Point(I got through the Great Palace without having to use Shield even once, though. That was pretty easy for me,because luck helped me find the right rooms.).And I still haven't beaten the game!Link's Shadow kept butchering me,even with Shield activated.

Anyway, otherwise the game was 75% impossible for me without the Fire Spell--the Shield Spell barely helped, and I got killed twice when fighting Horsehead,'cos I ran out of Magic Bar Points for Jump(The first few I spent on Shield).Even Ironknuckle knocked off five lives when my friend killed him and still had all his 11 lives and lost only two Health Bar Points, and the Life Spell is TOTAL TRASH!IIt barely restores any Health Bar Points, and I made a big mistake to use it vs. Carock(My Reflect Spell activation was a second too late)...I once even gave my original AoL for the NES to this nerd in my school,I give them 0 out of 5!

Evilslayer

That was pretty harsh. ::) But those games will always be my two favourites. The nostalgia is so great. And Link with dark hair is the best.

Agreed, hands down the two greatest Zelda games in the series and with the original as my favorite game of all time.

Thanks for the heads up!
how do you get over hireling

You get more posts, and this really doesn't belong here. This is a thread concerning how hard some of the NES Zelda games are, so please try not to post off-topic. Send a PM (private message) to someone if you're having trouble.

Horsehead is a real booger!  I know, it's pathetic that I am only that far.  I have L4 of everything.  I bet everyone else beat him with L2 or less. ::) :( ;D
