Venice was built on a series of islands, on a whole, a lagoon.

Very well said, I couldn't have put it better...

The only thing that landwise connects Venice to the land is a very old bridge the Austrians built when they ruled Venice. Venice is several tiny islands, and sea levels rise there more than usual.

No, Shikamaru, we cannot build a dome thing over it.

It is nearly impossible to move Venice's history. Venice was a major cultural center during Medieval Europe and the Renassaince. It was once one of the most powerful seapowers in Europe, and controlled the Spice Trade to Europe before people sailed around Africa. Venice is one of the most popular tourist attractions through-out Southern Europe, mabye one of the most popular in Europe itself. Moving Venice's histroy is like moving the Sun, impossible.

And no, I've never been there, but it is very beautiful.

Also, just look at any descent map of Italy and you'll see it's IN the Bay of Venice, not on the coast of the bay.

Global warming is a threat.  Although we can't stop it, we have to slow it down.  I don't know if the world will be underwater within the next 50 - 100 years, but yeah, that rapid ice melting isn't helping anything, is it?  Hopefully sometime soon we can reduce our use of fossil fuels, dramatically.  Ethanol would be a much better fuel if we could find a good way to use it; it is renewable and burns cleaner.

Gamefreak

I think scientists are working on a way to use fusion as fuel.

It'll be a while before we have fusion powered vehicles, let alone fission.

P.S. Your sig and my avatar should be friends. ;D

If, by any way not just by global warming, the earth's overall temperature raises by 6 degrees, people will be incinerated where they stand and fireballs will rain down.

True fact people. Got it from Times2.

MasterKeyX

People will incinerate and fireballs will rain down from heaven....

And you got this from where? Becuase that doesnt even sound possible.

I think she was being sarcastically ironic. Or Ironically sarcastic. I forgot the difference.

I think that global warming is a problem but it's not entirely our fault. I too am 13 and im an average student. Im not going to try to convince you with fancy words but think about it, it's a FACT that the sun gets hotter as time flys. And we wont have to seriously worry about this for awhile. Right now people blame throwing a cup out the window of their car, global warming. Which is not true. A single cup sitting in the sun until some1 picks it up is not going to kill our planet. I think it will become a problem since people don't realize that our overpopulation is slowly causing us to destroy what nature we have left. I think we just need to stop trying to convince ourself that we are the problem. Back in the ice-age the ice caps melted without our help. So they most likely do the same thing again but we might be asisting it a bit.

While I'm not going to diasgree with you or agree with you, it is indeed a fact that the sun gets warmer as time goes by. As the sun converts hydrogen to helium and realeases nuclear energy, it gets hotter and hotter. Hence the reason scientists estimate that in 2 billion year, Earth will be uninhabitable.

But to use the sun as a scapegoat for current matters is a very shallow attempt at avoidance. The sun won't grow so hot in 50-100 years as to increase global warming.  The temperature changes solely because of the sun are completely negligable. Earth's area in space on the other hand... and let's not forget our screwed up atmosphere.

MasterKeyX

Which is also a good point. The whole thing with the sun wrming up takes place on a scale of MILLIONS of years. So, yes, to use it as an excuse for current change would be foolish.

::) What!? When did I mention heaven?
That would definitely disprove the theory if i mentioned heaven.

No this is like way in the future but if the pola ice caps keep melting the sea will absorb all the heat instead of reflecting it as the ice did. This heats it up and a gas deep inside the earth (can't remember which) will start spewing out. If when this comes into the air it hits a spark it will form a fireball-like reaction etc.

And I said where  I got it from. The Times2.

Wow. And you actually believe this? This is isn't going to happen, rest assured.

Hmph. Well I thought it all sounded rather exciting.
But I'll have no fear with you on the Murder Scene

My friend is convinced that Global Warming isn't gonna happen, she watched a programme about it.
She is convinced cutting Carbon emmissions is all a government ploy to stop small countries developing too much.
I laughed when she said that, and then I realised she totally believed it.
