The reason Sephiroth can't die, is because of the JENOVA cells inside his body.  He can't be absorbed into the Lifestream.  Kingdom Hearts isn't canon to the whole Final Fantasy series.

Still, the fact that Sephiroth can't die is a good feature if you want to continue the story of FFVII, even though it already had.

I'm not insulting Kingdom Hearts.  I'm just saying that the Final Fantasy characters are not the same as the ones in their respective games.  I mean Cloud and Squall are friends, Aerith is alive, Cid isn't a swearing, smoking guy.  The only possible exception to this would be Auron in KH2.  His character seems to be the same as the one in FFX.  When you hear his memories, there are a few quotes from FFX, and he seems to be like his character from X.

Sephiroth can't die, even if Cloud does kill him.  Cloud supposedly killed him in the Mako Reactor in Nibelheim, but since Sephiroth can't be diffused into the Lifestream, he ended up in the Northern Crater.  Where he spends the game.

You can't hold Sephiroth's character based on things he says in Kingdom Hearts.  The Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts is an enbodiment of Cloud's past.  Since this Cloud is from Hollow Bastion and not from Nibelheim, this is obviously not the Cloud from Final Fantasy 7.

The only character in Kingdom Hearts who has any possibility of being himself from the Final Fantasy games, is Auron.  But I don't want to get into it.
