Hardest Zelda Game

I haven't played the really old ones, the oldest one I played is ALTTP on the GBA, I don't have an SNES.  ALTTP is really hard.  I'm hopelessly stuck on Skull Woods right now.  Apparently, I'm not going to be looking forward to the Ice Palace or Misery Mire. :-X
