adventures of link was a mistake..plain and simple

It's Adventure of Link. He goes on ONE adventure, not many. And the game was never a mistake. They didn't know where to go with the series back then so they tried different things.

And how do you suggest they make such a huge world in the style of the first game with the technology they had back then? It is partly because of the geography of that Hyrule that, in my opinion, the LoZ/AoL era is the most exciting era of Hyrule so far.

And the castle actually have an original name! ;D

Oh, and don't forget that AoL introduced a lot of themes to the series that is now taken for granted.

i think it is worth buying the collector's edition, especially if u never had any of the 4 games like i did.  ;D

When I had the collector's edition of AoL I couldn't save, but I never played the NES version so I'm not sure if it was a problem. I think the collecor edition is worth it just tobe able to play all of them on one system if you don't have the NES or N64.

I heard at alot of places that AoL is the hardest Zelda game. Is it true?

It is hard because of the awkward RPG element.  If they had made TAoL today, it probably would've been much better, but as Evilslayer said above, the technology back then limited then and they were trying to figure out where to take the series.
