Mysterious F.

Well, to find it, click 'Compedium of Hyrule' on the right side of the creen, and look through the page for 'The Terrible Truth About Tingle'.

I won't link it, I want to see you're capable of finding it on your own. If you can, I'll link to you from now on. This is NOT a challenge.

There's nothing wrong with having an excellent attidtude on life.  Because let's face it, when Hyrule (or Termina or Labrynna) is in trouble, Tingle is always showing his quirky side.  He never loses hope.  Despite all of the odds (moon falling, Veran changing the flow of time, etc.), he still has the strength of character to follow his dreams, and not many people can say that.
Ya if your dreams include things like selling maps that should be for free, forcing people to pay to read something they need to beat the game, and stealing Rupees/Force Gems that belongs to somebody else.

Vaati

Well...the force gems don't really belong to anybody until the person picks it up. And even then, Tingle doesn't snatch them right from Link's hands (or pockets or whatever). But Link does need the Force Gems more than Tingle.
As far as I know, Tingle is just another human (or Hylian) and he want Force Gems to help him become a fairy or something like that. But Link is on a mission to save Hyrule. And when it comes to that, I think Tingle can wait just a little longer for him to get what he wants.

Maps: How DARE he try to make a living?
Triforce Charts: Wow. It's just another obstacle. I hate those stupid bosses, having to fight them to get an item I need to beat the game...

Shika's right. Tingle should be able to make a living. And hey, maybe making maps is the only thing he can do? Of course deciphering the maps in WW is pretty expensive for what they are, which I don't think is very fair since you have to pay all that money in order to get through the game. Actually, one of my files is on that (the other two: beaten, and the other in the Forest Haven) and if all of my files where to the point where I'm getting so sick and tired of tipping Hyrule over looking for Rupees, I'd just sell my game.

Actually, he also creates them. He's kind of an explorer, which otherwise is always considered cool. Even better, he makes notes of his discoveries so others may benefit from it. So he asks money; the guy needs a living too and he (probably) has faced the necessary obstacles to justify the maps not being for free.

What game? As far as he knows, there's a kid who wants a bunch of maps deciphered. He doesn't know anything about Ganondorf, Zelda/Tetra, the Triforce or anything, let alone that he's an obstacle in a game.

About the force gems, I assume they work exactly the same as rupees. In that case, realize that they are Tingle's life. In other words, suppose I wouldn't have had anything to eat in days and then I find someone who has lots of food and uses it as decoration for his house. Would it be very wrong of me to try to take a bit of it, so I wouldn't starve? Tingle just does what he needs to do to live. He doesn't hurt anyone while trying to do so, since Link easily gets plenty of rupees/force gems and even if he doesn't, the Four Sword can warp him back to get as many force gems as he needs. Besides, I don't remember Link ever saying to Tingle anything about his quests.

QuoteAnd hey, maybe making maps is the only thing he can do?

Tingle can draw (part of his mapping skill), cook (he's good) and fight at a reasonable level (for a 35-year old who has never fought before). But in general, mapping is his main skill.

IronKnuckle

In OOT the in game maps were free, in TP and WW they are free (with the exception of having to use some bait in WW), why do you have to buy them in MM?
Thats what I'm saying.
