I think that SSBM is quite possibly the BEST game of all time. It has near infinite replay value, and is more fun than any game I've ever played.  As a testament to it's greatness, last night I pulled an all-nighter while playing Smash. 10 hours straight, AND I've had the game for over two years.

There are so many options, you can customize the match to the perfect balance of chaos and fun.

My settings:
Damage Ratio- 1.3 (the perfect setting)
Items- Very high(no healing items, starmen, Mr. Saturn)
Stock- 10 Lives

Matches just don't get any better than that.

But there are so many single player things to do, it's amazing. I truly believe this may be the best game ever.

I'm just really wondering, is there anybody here who agrees? Your thoughts on the game?

Marin

I LOVE that game, I got that game with my GCN and thats all I hadd for half a year!
I like to use Shiek and Marth. I kick butt with them, im ok with samus and Falco.
I hate the use of items, mine is set on none. Items are a handicap! Real fighters dont needem I think.

Ah... the SSB series ^^. I don't own SSBM, but I've long been a fan of SSB on the 64. You're right about the replay value, definitely--very easily one of the best party games ever!

QuoteI hate the use of items, mine is set on none. Items are a handicap! Real fighters dont needem I think.

Well... they're actually pretty beneficial, in my opinion. :D "Handicap"? Tell that to a game full of players scrambling for the beamsword or what have you. But I often like to play without items as well, to avoid those "you only won because the hammer spawned right next to you" feuds.

One thing that I found a bummer in SSBM was how... weak Yoshi felt--one of my favorite characters in the original SSB game. But that's a detriment easily remedied, SSBM having around twice as many characters to choose from than its predecessor. Gotta love the whole Zelda gang there, yes.

I love SSB:M, love love love love love. Love. Me and my friends play this game endlessly on certain occassions.

My favorite character is Samus (Blue, ie. Gravity Suit, colored). When I get going I am near untouchable with all my flips, rolls, phases, and shieldings.

Such an amazing game. I cannot wait until SSB 3.

Pickles

I can't say that SSBM is the absolute best game ever, but it's an awesome game, hands down. I LOVE this game!!When I first got it, I wasn't so sure about it. I thought it was kinda tacky, but when I started playing, I just adored it!

My favourite character is Young Link. Not sure why though. I aalso like Kirby and Princess Peach.

Master Goron

I am dominant with Jigglypuff. All the time. Rest is the best move ever, I love juggling someone, and finally letting them land, then when they go to move PING!!! They're gone.

As for playing it endlessly, same here. My friend was over and we started playing at 11 pm. I didn't even notice the clock until 5:30 am, and finally got off at 9 am. Good times.

I like items because it adds mayhem. You never know what will happen, but without them, if you are losing, you most likely will lose. But as you said, I don't need em, I just turn off the stupid ones. The good thing is that those "you only won because of..." give you an excuse to play another match.  ;)

Link is good. With his shield, bombs, arrows, boomerangs, and downstab, he's extremely good. Too bad his smash move sucks.

I use Ganondorf alot too. He has so much power, and the coolest move ever. His (hold up and a) Charging leg attack is teh 5w334. Other than that I like to use:

Falco, Peach, Pichu. That's my top 5(with Jiggles and Ganon)

I also can't wait for SSB 3. Being online will be the greatest, the only thing I worry about is the controller. But there are so many options that could happen. I'm really wondering if we will get usertags and rankings(like live... please nintendo!) or if it'll be basic.

Marin

For SMB3 they should have Hector and the animal crossing guy(Hit them hith nets!). That would be fun, me and me bro use Marth and Roy and we kick butt in team battle.

SSB:M is quite possibly the greatest multiplayer game ever invented.

I'd usually go on some long, hardly legible rant about the usefulness of certain characters, but at the moment I don't feel like doing so. People don't see to like 'em, anyways.  ;)

In summary, Yoshi is my number one suicide-kamikaze-frenzy-berserker-who- cares-how-many-lives-I-have-left-annoy-the- hell-out-of-everyone kind of character. It really works, because he has all these nasty moves that irritate the crap out of my foes.. I don't actually win the matches, per se, but I put up the best fight. ^_^ I'm sort of like that with Dr. Mario too, but some of his attacks just rub me the wrong way.

Favorite character? Uhm.. I'll have to get back to you in the morning. Being naturally indecisive, I often pick a random one to fight with - thus, I'm relatively skilled all around. However, my foes are considerably more focused than I, often leading to my inevitable defeat. It's still lots of fun, though, especially with Mewtwo. All them tail attacks 'n grabs. Teehee.

I think Pichu is kind of.. not so great. He's weak, has short range, and low weight. His only redeeming point is his speed, which I utilize to its fullest.

I'm fairly good at Peach, though - I abuse the floating ability and neutral A while airborne. It's one of those near-instant attacks. ^_^ The turnips, however impratical, are still so much fun to use.

Oops.. long rant. T_T

Master Goron

One thing I'd like to see is Ganondorf who can transform into Ganon!

My favorite thing to do the first time I face someone is to have them pick my character...

Pichu's fully powered over b does 40% dmg. It just takes way too long. But his normal attack is lightning quick.

A cool trick w/ Peach is to go to fourside and jumb in one of the holes. Use her over b and you'll bounce off the wall. You can do this repeatedly(and it raises you a little higher). I've been mere inches from death, then I hover and in a few seconds(like 20) I'm back in action.  ;)

Hector would be sweet, especially the axe.

Team is pretty fun, I hope they add a co-op mode like classic in the next one.

Ah, once when a friend was using Samus... she just sort of stood several inches away (you know what I mean) and proceeded to fire rocket after rocket at the rest of us. After a while, one realizes that you can't just ignore something like that ^^.

QuoteIn summary, Yoshi is my number one suicide-kamikaze-frenzy- berserker-who-cares-how-many-lives-I-have-left- annoy-the-hell-out-of-everyone kind of character.

Especially his B -> (side) move? ^^ The first time I used that, it took me right off the edge before I knew what was going on. Definitely fun.

By the way... what does that one move of Peach's do? The one where she holds Toad out in front of her? Never could figure that one out...

QuoteTeam is pretty fun, I hope they add a co-op mode like classic in the next one.

Ah yes! I love co-op games, period. One thing that would rock is if you could link up multiple game-cubes/revolutions and have like... an 8 vs 8 SSB game. And have huge maps for it. That'd be... awesome. ^^ I haven't heard too much about SSB3, though--have they released much information yet?

Master Goron

No, not yet, other than it is a launch title, and will be online. The toad move is sort of a counter. If you block an attack with it, your opponent gets hurt.

Hyrule Temple comes to mind. 'Twas massive. The only problem with such large battles is the camera, which spreads way too far apart. But they are so much fun...

True, and at places like that (and the Great Fox of SSB), you're practically playing blind if two pairs decide to duke it out at opposite ends of the screen... something that having 4 different consoles/screens would alleviate. ^^ HEh.

Marin

One thing I hope to see, er dont hope to see, is duplicates with minor differences, like Marth and Roy, Pichu and Pikachu.  There speed and strength are diffrent, I just want different moves with B.

Twinrova

hey guys this is my third day in the TCD forums and my first look at this one.

i'm a Zelda fanatic own every game to date beat all at least three times perfect player on most (sorry for bragging)

SSBM is cool and since i'm a Zelda fan i play with Zelda, Link, Young Link, Ganondorf, Ganondorf being my best. love it when Ganondorf is kicking but and the adience is chanting his name in that cool deep voice. awsome. just awsome. Zelda(Shiek) doing the chain thing just hold -> B and move the stick in a circle to spinn it around, pretty good defense. Link just has that variety of moves, alike to Young Link with the fire arrow. awsome. just awsome. don't play with the others though.

well nice talking with ya i'll be here tomorow.

I like the SSB on the 64! What a great game! My favorite thing to do, is be Kirby on Yoshi's map. Then you float to one of the clouds on either side and hover there for the whole match. Whenever anyone comes to knock you off, suck them up, wait until the cloud disapears, then spit them out to where they can't jump back up! It's a dirty trick, but really fun!
