What is an Oekaki? What the link took me to looked more like a pokemon forum ;)

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

An oekaki forum features special software built into the site that allows you to create a picture and save it right to the server for everyone to see.  Some require that you finish the pic in one sitting, while others allow you to save your work and resume it later.  That particular one lets you save, I think, but I don't know if it allows for non-pokemon pics, so you'll probably want to just save it to your hard drive rather than post it if you use that.

awesome, how do I tell them im gonna do it. I could like, draw link in the Keaton Mask, and tell them its Pikachu :P

LOL!  I would just save a screenshot of it as soon as possible so that if it's not posted or gets deleted from their server, you'll have a copy.  Or you could try finding a Zelda-themed oekaki board.  I'm sure there are some out there.  That way you can post it and not have to worry about it getting deleted!

I am interested in seeing this, though, if you'd like to post them here at the forums!

Well, okay. Their dimensions may be too large for the forum to hold, so I'll have to link you to them.

Hehe, true, but for this particular occasion I'm trying to encourage more realistic pictures (realistic not as in like real life but rather like the game).  It's great to be able to look at a pic and have the emotions you felt when you explored that temple or first stepped onto the ranch come rushing back to you!
Ah, so that's why you don't want any gender bending.  Gotcha.

Wow, do you painstakingly acquire the HUDs by hand tracing, or do you use a image software feature to cut them from the original shots?

MagmarFire

I use a software feature, but to make it more realisitic, I need to carefully erase most of the foreign pixels without damaging the imaging that I need. That can take a while, but it's enjoyable. :D

In deciding to make this contest exclusively OoT, my aim was to encourage artists to create scenes that could be "pulled" straight from the game, so to speak.  To clarify, this does NOT mean that you must create a picture that depicts something that actually occurs in the game.  It's more my way of spurring concepts that perhaps could occur within Link's world as he knows it.  It's an intentional shift of focus from diversity to elaboration.

To answer your question regarding planned OoT characters that never actualy made it into the game, I'd hadn't heard about that.  If you could provide some information as to where I can get more info on this, I would appreciate it.  This will help me to make an informed decision.

Before I answer, I have a question about gender bending. What about those who we don't know the gender of? Like almost every monster, every npc they Nintendo did not think it was worth making a new model for (aka Zora and maybe Gorons) and most important of all, Sheik. Are we free to choose?

This site has a lot of images: http://www.zeldadungeon.net/gallery/index.php?cat=50

My interests are this girl:
http://www.zeldadungeon.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=105&pos=85
The unicorn fountain:
http://www.zeldadungeon.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=105&pos=95
The angelic Great Fairy design:

This temple (Ice Temple?)
http://www.zeldadungeon.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=105&pos=170
And wikipedia has a nice image of Land Octoroks (which didn't feature in OOT).
And apart from those, what does perhaps could occur within Link's world as he knows it mean? Like, can I draw a picture of Keatons or Rito?

And for my last question, are comics allowed?

Okay, for characters/creatures that don't have a gender clearly defined, you can make them whichever you like, since there's no gender to bend, hehe!  Sheik, however, is not included in this, as he is clearly defined by Princess Ruto as a male in the game.  Yes, behind the disguise he's really a female, but being a male is part of the disguise, so yeah, he's male.

Yes, any creature mentioned the game, even if not specifically shown (such as keaton/kitsune and rabbits), may be included in the picture.  The setting does not have to be Hyrule.  You can draw Link sitting on your living room couch or piloting a rocket into outer space.  My only concern is with characters.

The previous paragraph should answer part of your question about the objects in the screenshots that did not make it into the final version of the game.  You may include the unicorn fountain or whatever you wish as part of the scenery.  The only exception I will make is with the girl.  Since she is a character and did not appear in the finished game, she cannot be included.  The same goes for monsters.

Lastly, yes, comics are allowed.

Hope this info helps!  Please let me know if you have additional questions or need clarification on anything.

Dark Wolf Link

I was wondering how you (Hylian Reploid) can afford to pay for a Wii and shipping to countries outside of the US or even inside the US?

Wiis aren't cheap, and I simply find it hard to believe that a fan would be willing to pay so much for just some fan art. I mean, its certainly possible, but I think I need some more facts or good reasons for you to be paying so much for some excellent drawings.

Either way, I'll send some pics soon if I can...

DWL

Hi no Seijin

Whoa.  Someone's going to question a getting a free Wii? :-[

Well, I'm not sure if Hylian Reploid is going to be coming to this corner of the 'Net anytime soon, so I'll just say, "Why does he need a good reason?  Why not award a good artist with a free Wii?"  Honestly, people ask "Why?" and "What good reason is there for me to do this for?" far too often.  They should be asking "Why not?"  It makes life fun that way if they don't always care about the consequences.

Well Hi no Seijin,

Not to demean your accusation of whatever it was you were accusing, but I stated clearly that I was going to draw anyway, although I found it hard to believe that someone would be willing to pay a few hundred dollars for some online fan art. Not many people would do that, nor would many people want to give their address at a potential risk to their personal life etc. I am not accussing Hylian Reploid in any way, I am just saying that there is always a possibility of something happening.

DWL

Hi no Seijin

I didn't think I was accusing you of anything.

I'm guessing your a bit of a cynic (no offense meant).  People actually do nice things, and they wouldn't mind spending a few hundred bucks to make other people happy.  If someone's going to do that for me, I certainly wouldn't ask if they had a good reason.  I would just appreciate that they did that and thank them a few thousand times.  Actually, there's probably more good people than bad people.  It's just that, unfortunately, we hear more about the bad people than we do of the good people.
