There's this one cheat on how to steal the Fisherman's hat in OoT. (You know, the one Hena said she may be related to in TP?)
I got his hat but I couldn't take it outta the place... or am I an idiot?

Getting back to the hat, the only thing that really happens when you take the poor fellow's hat is that a new rule will appear.  And that rule is, quite obviously, don't cast your rod at other people.

Actually, that rule is always there when you're an adult.

If you cast into the pond after you catch the hat, the hat will fall off and sink to the bottom. Then the fisherman will take a lot of your money.

You can also give it back to him if you still have it, but that's no fun ...

True, but you can get money anywhere. Where else can you steal a bald guy's hat and drop it in a pond so he can't get it?

You have to keep casting at him. You won't get it on the first try, but just keep adjusting your position until you do.
