What's strange, though, is the text at the very end that says, "A new story awaits the awakening--" You don't think that kind of answers the "birth by sleep" speculation, do you? :-\

Okay. Well, there has been speculation going around about what "it all began with birth by sleep" means. Some people think that it may mean that all that's going to go on in KHIII may have something to do with Sora's year-long slumber. That leads to a plethora of different possibilities that go around about what that sentence actually means.

Now we come across "a new story awaits the awakening." Maybe that means that someone must "awaken" as a hero or something, and the story will continue (or a new one will start) when that happens.

Or, perhaps, on a greater twist, maybe Sora never did wake up, and maybe he is still sleeping. Though I find that highly unlikely.

Personally, I think you guys are over-analyzing the sentence. I think maybe it means a new hero will awaken. That's all.

I don't know. Do we know what happened with Roxas before he joined Organization XIII? I haven't played CoM, so that might actually answer my question. But I think it'd be interesting if this happened while Sora was asleep (or maybe even before) but before he joined Org. XIII.

Edit: I don't actually know when Roxas joined them. Was it before/during/after CoM?

Actually, CoM never did answer what had happened to Roxas before, during, or after he joined the Organization. In fact, he wasn't even in CoM.

What we do know is that he joined the Organization before CoM.

I don't think that really is Roxas, though, because Tetsuya Nomura said that the three characters that appeared in the secret trailer at the end of KHII were completely new to the series. He even said that he started thinking up names for them, so I doubt he'd change Roxas's name. :P
