lol sry zelda veteran, u are kinda slow..... i always assumed that the deku tree in WW was the seedling in OoT. never gave it much thought though

He does die... OF OLD AGE. At least, at the moment, it's fan fiction to assume he died of anything else. And where did you get the idea that he can't remember being the Hero of Time. That just wouldn't make sense, as well as it contradicts facts. :-\

According the intro, his friend left him when he finally fulfilled his destiny. Navi is the only one who leaves him when he finally fulfills his destiny. ;)

Besides, according the King of Red Lions, he was called away. Another reason to suspect Navi. He probably had dreams where he saw himself accompanied by a faerie and assumed it was Navi.
