I nominate Richard Slater from Thr3e by Ted Dekker. I also nominate Owner, from my books, which are still in progress. Slade from Teen Titans ;)(there, I said it) was a pretty good villain to, so I put in my nomination for him, also. How could we forget Sephiroth, from FFVII.

King, the true villian of MAR: Marchen Awakens Romance, depite how Queen Diana and Phantom make more appearances than King.

Hah, the 'true villain'... You know, to me, what constitutes the real villain, IE: The one that puts a face on the opposite side of the conflict would be the one that appears and has the most development. The King, I doubt you would really be able to respect, because I doubt he had much development, time in the spotlight.

The 'master' behind the shadows means little if his motives and character don't get the chance to develop, so when he shows up late in a work, we already identify the main villain with the one we've been able to get most out of. IE: Darth Vader as apposed to Palpatine of the original Star Wars Trilogy.

I agree with JQ.  In my opinion, Kefka is a better villain.  "You all sound like pages from a self help manual!"

Sephiroth was cool, it is Zant who is overrated. He is a big baby. Sure he looks wicked awesome with the helmet, but without it, he is just a washed up usurp king.
