That looks great! I particularly like the crosshatching shading; I've never been that good at it.

Fishalicious

Oh yeah, tone paper is really expensive... and far too quick to go away.  ???

I'd rather have digital tones, though, considering my computer's low tolerance... ^^;

yeah it is Serra ^_^ ive been fine without tone for 4 years so i just find other ways around it

darkphantomime

I don't know how to explain my style, hahah... Now when you say tone paper, you mean sketchbook quality paper as opposed to regular printer paper?

Looks good.

Tone paper is the thickness of tracing paper; usually used in comics/manga. It's how they add those nice effects and whatnot; under the tone, it's just the lineart.

Screentone, is what it's usually referred to. It does come in the digital variety, but I'm a traditional person... I don't like digital drawing that much, I'm not very good at it.

darkphantomime

That's becasue you don't have a WACOM tablet and those things are pricey.

Fishalicious

Ack, let us not bring tablets into this discussion... I know someone who has a tablet. I used it once. It sucks, really. I draw too lightly for it to be of any use to me, and traveling on the internets is fairly difficult.

I've always been a mouse person, I don't like it when people use not having a tablet/photoshop as an excuse for poor digital skill. Besides, I use the bezier tool and pen tool (on photoshop) to make my lines look nice, not a tablet.

Sorry, I have and always will feel strongly about that matter. ^^;

darkphantomime

Uhh... lots of professional artists have used tablets, including many MANY webcomic artists.

hmm? do you mean classes? i learned by myself how to draw.. no books or anything, one day i decited i want to draw Kurama. so i did and he looked ok.. so i continued drawing. i observe every little detail when i read manga/watch anime so that helps  :-X

darkphantomime

What have four years of art taught me in the direct sense? NOTHING!

What have four years of art taught me in an indirect sense? That I really REALLY like painting and weird perspectives and drawings. Art class can give you a chance to experiment with stuff.

Fishalicious

Lots of professional artists have used mice, too. I'm just saying you don't need all this expensive stuff to be a great artist; just because you own a tablet doesn't make you a high and mighty artist.

I mean, no offense, it's just no use to me, and I don't think it'd do much a difference for me anyways; bezier and pen tool are just manipulated with points, not actual lines being drawn.

MatthewThief

oh you were in art class for 4 years. kinda wierd because i have been drawing for 4 years too. thats why i got confused So you do abstract then? I used to do that, but it got to tedious for me
