Being half dragon is awsome, not a curse. Just look how powerful Onaga from the MK games was.

How about a character named Kai?  At the beginning, they seem like an almost antagonistic character, trying to thwart Link at every turn (almost like Waka or whatever the hell his name is from Okami), but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Kai is actually one of the Sheikah, dissatisfied with the reign of Daphnes, who swore to avenge... I dunno... his fallen parents or something.  Link and he become friends, but it becomes apparent that one of them has to die.

And an even cooler twist?  Link dies. :P

Okay, so what's wrong with pigs? You know, I can think of I don't know how many more lifeforms that are WAY worse. Pigs are cool and strong creatures.  

They smell?  Would you want that stench following you everywhere?  Personally, if I were to pick an animal to sort of turn into, I'd choose one that didn't constantly reek of mud, because if I choose pig, then everyone would be spraying me with perfume and cologne, and I can't stand the smell of perfume and cologne when it's in heavy doses.

How about the guy in the windmill in OOT? If you ask me he has enough reasons to try and get his own back on Link. At least in his bizarre view of the world. Besides, have you ever looked at his face close up when he is angry in OOT? Pure evil. He could make an interesting character considering he has no god like powers or extreme strength. He would have to rely on his endless dark charisma, hatred of Link and his wits. Ok, so maybe it's a little over the top...
