The Devil of Hyrule?

I never thought that Hyrule would have a religious figure, such as the Devil. The Devil was a biblical creature of deceit, and evil. So why would there be a Devil of Hyrule? I was playing Majora's Mask today, and I happened to cross paths with the composer brother Flat. He states, and I quote:

Oh...Sharp, my dear brother. He sold his soul to the devil and was the one who locked me in here...

I never knew there was a Devil! I always figured the underworld was ruled by Ganon or something.

I'm pretty sure they were implying that it was Skull Kid's fault.

But weren't Pamela and her father living in canyon for years? She might've hinted that the canyon was cursed by the dead before the Skull Kid and Majora's Mask came around...

I wonder if it really is a reference to the Bible...or really is a figure of speech, even though I don't understand the latter completely.

Maybe. But thats an awefully long shot. If he would have said a Devil, I could understand. But he said "The" Devil.

Unless you meant an actual figure from the Bible™, then, well, the Devil's in a lot of other stuff.

No, no, the Goddesses were made up by Nintendo. The Devil is a biblical creature. I'm a bit perplexed here.

Anywho, the last time I checked, the devil wasn't copyrighted or restricted to being a Biblical figure.  And why wouldn't there be a Hyrulean/Terminian (or any video game world) equivalent to Earthly mythological creatures and peoples?  After all, Final Fantasy uses a lot of Hindu mythology in their games.  Why shouldn't Zelda be any different?

It's possible that it's a physical manifestation of Link's mental struggles and/or other inner turmoil.

Because, it doesn't follow any of the machinations of the other Zeldas, a LOT of the material is VERY allegorical, and Link leaves a different way than he came, if you'll remember the credits...

I've always had the theory that Majora was the devil of Hyrule/Termina.

Mayb since that Termina is a whole different place, and Hyrule has their creation myth about the three goddesses. Maybe the Hylians don't believe in a devil, but the Termins do for whatever religion they are.
...Actually, in Minish Cap, Vaati used "the Devil's Curse", now that may be assocated with the Minish religion, but it could be the Hylian religion. Puzzling.
