Yup yup true dat true dat

Nudge nudge wink wink say no more say no more.

NO!  I have to listen to my band director say that at least once a day!

And don't forget to file an autopsy report so you can use it in court.

Commodore Axilon

oh man

do you suspect that it is...

MURDER ? ! ?

DW

Time of death: Sometime on February 1st, 2008. Cause of death unknown. Victim may have been slowly dying for several days beforehand; Poison is a possibility.

Well, folks, it turns out that my TV didn't totally die after all! My dad was right: it was a bad fuse. However, it didn't blow out; the little wire inside it that melts if too much voltage goes through it appeared to have broken (though we've got no clue how). He thinks it might have broken a while ago, and it jiggled out of position when I plugged my Xbox in, then jiggled back into place. So we got some new fuses from Radio Shack, and we tried them out. Each one blew when we tried turning the TV on. Then my dad tried a higher voltage automotive fuse. Guess what? It worked! So we went to Radio Shack again, bought some higher voltage, slow-blow fuses, put one in my TV, and it works with no issues now! Keep your fingers crossed for me, though.

And JQ, my dad got a degree in Electronics Technology. He's also been teaching small engine repair (part-time) at the community college for nearly 20 years.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

Still...it kind of makes you wish that circuit breakers were installed instead of fuses. :P

Indeed. Of course, if that were the case, then my TV would probably die each time I turned it on.

*Power on*
*Too much voltage!*
*Circuit breaks*
*Flip switch back into position*
*Power on*
*Repeat*

I could probably install a higher-voltage switch or something, though.

So, I guess "My TV was in a coma" would be a better title?

Twilight Wolf

Yeah, I suppose that would be more a appropriate title now. Or perhaps "My TV Had a Near-Death Experience."

Anyways, a status report: My TV has been working with no issues since the new fuse was installed. I hope it stays that way.

Ayksellant! ^^

Guess it was just an old fuse, eh?

Yep, it must have just been the fuse that was bad. However, there does seem to be a voltage spike when the TV turns on that caused some of the other fuses that were tested to burn out. I'm not sure if something inside the TV is shorting out and bypassing a regulator or something, or maybe we just tried the wrong kind of fuses. Oh well, it works now, and that's the important thing.

Maybe 'transplant saves life' would be a good title.

Seatac Airport Transportation service company can usually have a limousine, town car, or shuttle waiting in front of your house 20 minutes before you need to leave and have you dropped off directly in front of your airline check in an hour or two early.

Hi no Seijin

Spambot, I'd like to hire you personally to drive my limo to the airport.  I live at 124 Conch Street, Bikini Bottom, Pacific Ocean.  If you hit the Mariana Trench, then you've gone too far, but you can pick up my uncle while you're down there.

Wtf. A spambot reviving an old topic about TW and his comatose Television. What will they think of next?
