As some of you may know, I have been getting flamed over at Gamefaqs over my artwork...

anyway here is the edited self portrait... it looks a bit blurry because it's behind a stupid display glass.

And HERE is where I've been getting flamed... that topic probably won't be there forever, topics are constantly getting purged every day...

Did you add more blue to the background? I can see a lot more definition now in the finished version, and in response to your first post in the Gamefaqs thread, I LIKE thick layers of paint. It's a textural quality that other mediums either can't duplicate, or can only attempt to replicate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking advantage of it!

Anyhow, about the Gamefaqs people...."masamuna" is really critical for whatever reason, but s/he acts overly proud about something. Something about the way s/he spewed artsy jargon that kind of seemed like s/he was trying to give some illusion of self-bravado. I don't know. The ones at his/her heels seem pretty much like brown-nosers.
I'm not sure what to tell you about them! I can say this, though: My mom is an artist and an art instructor, although she doesn't teach these days, but she always said that a good instructor never seeks to blatantly point out flaws. A person who does that (with anything, actually) is pretty much just showing how insecure they feel about the quality of their own work. However, she also said that a good instructor also doesn't offer profuse praise, either! Because, in truth, it's your art, and it matters mostly how you feel about it.

Another thing she said? Never ask another artist for their opinion about your art. I'm a little in the dark on this one.  :o
