As soon as I can I'm going to take some creative writing courses at Tidewater Community College so I'll at least get some "formal" training.

I'm just the opposite of you: I've got lots of places I like to go, but I have to rely on my parents to take me, which means I can only go to those places when we're nearby, and it's frustrating. When I get a driver's license, I can finally break free of having to depend on my parents for transportation, which means I can get out and do things I like pretty much whenever I like.

Don't forget about the cost of gas!

That's partially what getting a job is for. If I can drive, I can get a job, part of which will pay for fuel, which allows me to continue to not only get to work, but to do other things I want as well. And if things work out the way I hope they will, the job I get will be something I enjoy doing.

I've decided not to get a car. I figure, I live around the corner from my high school, I don't have a date to pick up anyway. And once college comes around I'll just move into an apartment close to the school. Cars are a waste of money nowadays.
