Your car has to pass a test that determines how much pollution is in its exhaust. I have my doubts as to the usefulness of the smog test, though, since you have to pay for it, and it's only required in the most populous counties in the state, so there's a good chance it's just a money-making scam dressed up as pollution control.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

It would be so nice to have and be able to ride a motorcycle because of the fuel cost.  However, most people on the road don't know what the hell they are doing or don't pay attention, so I wouldn't feel safe.  I was driving on the freeway and some idiot was tailgating a motorcycle.  I'm talking like two or three feet away.  So yeah, I think I will stick with driving a car.

Twilight Wolf

I'd much rather drive a car than a motorcycle, personally. Much safer, and more comfortable, too. Not to mention you can carry a lot more people or stuff.

Actually, here in Washoe County, your car has to pass a smog inspection in order for it to get registered, so...

does that include carbon dioxide inspection ?

I'm pretty sure there is a fixed amount of CO2 output for every gallon of gas burned, no matter what the vehicle.

If everyone on the road was a good driver, I would take a motorcycle over a car, at least for the warm months here.

On the moon they use CO2 as fuel for their washing machines.  The auto companies are trying to reduce CO2 emissions so there is a higher demand for it on the moon.

Twilight Wolf

They use CO2 as a propellant for paintball guns, too.

Is the auto industry messing with the paintball industry, too?

Because you refuse to learn how to drive, maybe?
By putting off learning how to drive, I do not drive, therefore I do not contribute to the problem.  So there.  I win!

I just can't imagine why anyone wouldn't jump on the chance to get a driver's license at 16...
Joking or not, during high school I didn't really go anywhere besides school (which was a 10 to 15 minute walk), and if I did there was someone (mother, father, sister, or friend's sister) who could take me.  I didn't really feel the need.  When I went off to college for that one year, free transportation was arranged by VCU between the two campuses (which was about a 30 minute walk anyway) so the need for personal transport still wasn't there.  It was only a year ago that I felt the need to learn how to drive, and so I went to get my permit.  I haven't been practicing for two reasons.  One, the aforementioned "most people in VA Beach are idiots" reason.  Two, I don't really feel comfortable behind the wheel of a car, so I push practicing off.  Surely everyone here can agree it's not a race to get your license.

I'm just the opposite of you: I've got lots of places I like to go, but I have to rely on my parents to take me, which means I can only go to those places when we're nearby, and it's frustrating. When I get a driver's license, I can finally break free of having to depend on my parents for transportation, which means I can get out and do things I like pretty much whenever I like.

DW

I'm not getting my license yet because if I did, I would have to start paying for insurance, which is going through the roof. I also have to raise $6000 in the next year, and paying insurance would not help.

Providing that there is a car you can use, of course.

I don't think my parents would mind if I borrowed the van or something.

Hi no Seijin

Ask them for the keys to the Batmobile.  You want to be cool when you're out driving.

Don't forget about the cost of gas!
