Partly inspired by the Valley of the Flood game, I wanted to know what you guys think about industrializing the series.  Since WW and PH had cannons I don't think it would be such a stretch to add, simple, guns.  That's about as far as I think they will, if ever, go.

Thoughts? :-\

Zelda Veteran

I don't like the idea of guns in Zelda. However, placing a deku-nut in a spring loaded gun doesn't sound so radical.

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

Knil

A deku "gun" probably wouldn't work because of the gunpowder.  That sounds cool.  I like your idea because, well, I can't put the finger on it exactly, but when I think of a gun, that would fit in Zelda, I want to think of a mix between a crossbow and a slingshot.  Also I think a crossbow without the wood extentions for the tortion to fire the ammo would also work.

And floating platforms wouldn't work because of the gravity.

As for me, I like the medieval Zelda as it is, but a Renaissance Zelda wouldn't be that bad... Maybe have horse-drawn carts or something in some of the games (er... excluding the escort quest in TP) as a mode of transportation.

Hey, maybe Epona could be a horse that wasn't able to be used for a carriage-or she broke off of the carriage during an attack or something.

( Teehee, this topic made me think of survival horror Zelda... )

Darth Wyndisis

If they can have cannons, it wouldn't be inconcievable for them to have single shot, muzzle-loading guns.  They just wouldn't be very fitting in the Zelda series.

MasterKeyX

I'm ardently opposed to guns in Zelda.

It's a medieval swords and shields game. It should stay that way.

Well gunpowder, for cannons and rockets not guns, was used in China before the 10 century.  And it got to Japan, Europe, the Middle East in the 13-14 centuries.  So in my opinion that's pretty early in history.

BUT, I thought cannons were advance, so I dunno.

DW

Thing is, this isn't Earth. It's not going to develop at the same rate, maybe even not in the same order.

Zelda is the past, Metroid is the future.  It should stay that way.

While we're at it lets replace Link's hat with a Top hat. >:(
Nintendo goes on my blacklist if they put guns in the game.

Tophats are awesome, and I would love to see an alternate outfit with link in a tophat and suit. And monocle.

Actually, I think a Renaissance Zelda would be pretty neat... With like, the new age of art and science and all that coming up. :3

Mario is sorta in the present, just in the Mushroom Kingdom!

I actually came up with an idea a while back that they all take place on the same planet/galaxy, just at different time periods.

Keaton

Nah, Mario's definitely in another fantasy-land altogether.

I mean, aside from the monsters and magic, at least Zelda is plausible.

Mario, Metroid, and Zelda on the same planet?  I think not.  Same galaxy, maybe.

Now if you want Nintendo franchises on the same planet, Zelda and Fire Emblem is a lot more plausible.

As for a New Age Zelda with guns....I dunno.

Well I was thinking about it for awhile and I thought of some ways they could make a gun underpowered.

1. Have a nation/country/world/province wide ban.  A war in the past caused the law for not allowing to have them.

2. Expensive to find the certain gunpowder or whatever they use.

3. Non to popular if there wasn't a ban.

4. Since there is magic in the game, have a certain spell that could explode the chemicals in them. Thus the person would explode or just the gun would.
