*ahem*

Allow me to begin by telling you a little story that happened a few days ago.

My parents and my sister went over to our cousins' house, and they visited while my sister and their youngest daughter (She's probably 7 at most) hung out upstairs. After that, they all decided to go to Wal*Mart for reasons I don't know. I think they might have went out to get some ice cream in one of the big tubs or something. So Ariana (my little cousin) asks her parents if she can buy a new video game for the Wii. Her parent's said yes. Taking advantage of this, my sister asked my parents if they'd buy her a game. They, of course, said yes. Now onto my point-

Ariana went straight there and asked for Mario Kart! I'm so proud of her right now!

...

My sister grabs herself a copy of Dog Island... Dog. Island.
I'm so unbelievably disappointed in my sister AND Nintendo for licensing something like this.

I was mad at my sister, but then realized something. This hit me like a brick to the head- This new generation of gamers(my sister and other 6-13 years old gamers) don't know what a good game consists of. Here's how I base this hypothesis.

Ariana never really asked for a gaming system. Do you know why? She had fun with the one she already had- Super Nintendo Entertainment System. She'd been playing the old Mario games and the other classics we know and love. She knows what a great game is, and knew immediately that Dog Island was a complete pile of crap AT AGE 7.

My sister insisted that it'd be the best game ever, and I told her straight up, "Its the people like you who go out and buy crap games that took absolutely NO thought or effort and keep Nintendo running. You never even took a chance to play the most incredible games ever just because they're old. I just can't believe you're involved in what's making Nintendo so rich off of crap." She didn't seem to care at all. She just told me I was dumb and went to play Dog Island.

After she finally got tired of it, I went to my room and put in my copy of Ocarina of Time and played it from the beginning all the way to the Shadow Temple, where I picked up from today and played it to the finish. It still holds all the magic it did back then, and I only wish that today's generation of gamers could understand, and see in those games what we saw growing up. It almost makes me want to cry that she's a part of what makes the classical gamers so depressed when it comes to today's gaming. Sometimes I wonder if my sister would share my views if I'd exposed her to great gaming at a young age like my cousin Jenny(Ariana's sister who's my age) did to Ariana.

I kind of blame myself for this...

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

Hey man, you're not the only one...

I got my sister a wii recently and when I asked her if she wanted any games in particular, instead of saying Mario Kart wii or Super Mario Galaxy, she says "Hannah Montana"...

Good thing I'm never gonna buy it for her.

I have both MKW and SMG now not that she plays either..... Well, She seems moderately interested in SMG and MKW... MODERATELY.

She loves Mario Kart DS though.  Even though on her birthday list, it said "Hannah montana DS game... I bought her The Simpsons game for PS2 and Mario Party DS. She hasn't played either... >_< And she loves mario party. Oh well, at least she  played MP7 the other day.

wasted money... mumbles...

she's 12 by the way.

Zelda Veteran

Yeah, my sister asked for Hannah Montanna for Christmas too. Remember the Drake and Josh episode where Josh turns the TV on and "Susana Louisiana" is on?  :P
My sister gets mad when I call her that. I wish my sister would play SOMETHING decent.

At least my sister takes her DS everywhere... even though it's just to play Nintendogs, Pet vet, and cooking mama. And rarely, MKDS. :\

She also has this idea that girls don't play Zelda.... Even though I've mentioned to her that I  know plenty of girls that love Zelda.

Twilight Wolf

I'm glad I don't have a sister who's obsessed with Hannah Montana and High School Musical... This house has been free of the tyranny of The Disney Channel since the beginning, thank God.

Also, the reason games like Dog Island are licensed is because Nintendo is handing out licenses like free samples of pizza nowadays. Ever wonder why so many crap games are hitting the Wii?
What, you expect me to say something witty?

Carpet Merchant

My little sister is convinced that spongebob squarepants movie videogame is the best idea ever conceived and has (ahem) borrowed my playstation for the last 3 weeks to play it non stop.

I wish Dani was my sister... Wanna trade TW? :P

Twilight Wolf

Eh... maybe. I'll think about it.

Shipping might be an issue, though...

Zelda Veteran

Nah, I'll just run over there and steal her.
I wonder why she never bought into all that crap...
Disney and BULLCRAP runs ramped in this house.

It's probably because we don't have the advanced television services that you call "cable" or "satellite." Why should we have to pay for TV when it's still full of commercials? It's too much to watch, anyways.

My family has satelite.

And they've made me pay for that bill (it also has phone and internet on it) for the past two months :\

The only girls in my life right now are, thankfully, my roommates.  They like to read a lot and watch TV.  They also take pride in keeping the place clean and cooking dinner and stuff.  They're interesting to talk to, rather intelligent, and quite attractive for my tastes, so I honestly believe that I have hit the jackpot in terms of living arrangements.

I'm really hoping I'm correct in assuming Bri is indeed a girl.

Anyways...*sigh*...I suppose it's more about approachability...I mean, honestly, how hard is it to grasp a concept like Dog Island? Whereas Zelda takes some thought and such, what with puzzles and all that drive my sister insane.

Fishalicious

My sister likes to play Smash Bros. only because I do.

She loves Link with a stalker-ish passion, and gets mad when people insult Hannah Montana or Spiderman. She does things simply to be noticed, and if you ignore her, she'll hit you.

Uh.... I don't really play games in front of her. Have you ever played Silent Hill in front of a 7 year old? Yeah, no. Not to mention she'd be like "lol i like this person because you like him ^____^"
