So, I'm replaying A Link to the Past, but I'm challenging myself by only getting the Heart Containers at the end of dungeons (including the Heart Container in the Sanctuary) and items that are essential to beating the game.  I was doing okay until I got to the Ice Palace; without double magic, faeries, the Tempered Sword, and the Blue Mail, Kholdstare is handing my *** to me on a silver platter.

It's not too bad if you can dodge most of the attacks coming your way.  It's just that once Kholdstare is freed from the ice, there's so much going on in the room; you have ice falling down and breaking into four smaller chunks, with three giant eyeballs floating around.  It doesn't leave much room to move around.
