Can you guys tell me what this quote really means, and what the words/phrases I've underlined or bolded mean?

"Disturb not the harmony of Fire, Ice, or Lightning. Lest these three Titans wreck destruction upon the world in which they clash. Though the water's Great Guardian shall arise to quell the fighting alone its song will fail. Thus the Earth shall turn to ash. O, Chosen One, into thine hands bring together all three. Their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea."


For the last part I underlined:

When Ash brings the 3 orbs together, doesn't it make Lugia come up out of the water, getting all involved in the huge fight? That doesn't sound very tame to me.

For lest, it pretty much means otherwise. If either Moltres, Zapdos, or Articuno were to be disturbed (and it turned out to be Moltres first), they would go out and mess things up, one of the things being Zapdos taking over Fire Island.

For the first underlined part:

...to quell the fighting, alone, its song will fail.

To quell basically means to end. Lugia would, indeed, be the mediator of the situation, but there, the prophecy says that it wouldn't succeed in doing so without help. The iconic melody would not and could not be enough to put it all back to normal. Because, really, would a song alone be enough to stop a guy in his tracks from trying to capture all three Legendary Birds and Lugia himself?

If he were a ReDead, it would definitely be a different story.

The second:

Their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea.

No, it doesn't tame Lugia in the general sense of calming it; instead, it could have the meaning of control. Ash did bring the three orbs together, and that, in essence, gave Ash the privilege to get Lugia's support until his job was done. But now that I think about it, Lugia seemed willing to help him out before he had the treasures, so I guess I kind of forget their significance to the plot to begin with.

But still, if you replace it with a word meaning "otherwise," or even "resulting in," it essentially keeps its meaning. Either way, disturbing "the harmony of Fire, Ice, or Lightning" is a causation of the three going berserk. To me, it feels like "in fear of" and "resulting in" aren't mutually exclusive descriptors.
