Another MasterKey Topic (how obnoxious...)

I noticed Gamefreak ranting about how bitter he was at Nintendo in another topic on the forum (I don't recall which one it was) and I decided he had some really good points. I've been feeling the same way about Nintendo for awhile now, and I wanted to start a topic that we could discuss/debate the issue at hand. Here goes! (stay with me, mates...  :P) :

Nintendo has really just faded. Do any of you remmeer the good ol' days, when Nintendo was  powerhouse? When every game they released was practically a hit? Granted, that's an exaggeration. But really, let's look back. On the NES we have Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3, The Legend of Zelda and the ADventure of Link, Metroid, etc. On the SNES we had Super Mario World 1 and 2, Super Metroid, DKC 1, 2, and 3, A Link to the Past, and so on.

All of the aforementioned games are amazing. They catered to the hardcore gamer and really gave Nintendo fans what they wanted.

Now speed up to today. Nintendo has devolved into this mushy, casual gamer garbage company. Their current cosole, the Wii, is practically a dumping ground for terrible third party titles. Carnival Games. Really? And I swear, if I see another fashion or PETZ! game, I might punch a baby. Who wants o take care of a 3-d virtual dolphin?! WHO, I SAY! WHO?! Walk down any aisle in any electornics store and you'll see the Wii section filled with garbage. There are few diamonds in the rough to be found, and even those aren't up to par with older games (sorry, guys, Twilight Princess isn't nearly as great as Ocarina of Time or A Link to the Past).

Is Nintendo devolving? Do they care at all about their fan base? Are they bonkers, are they falling apart?! These are just a few of the reasons I find myself moving to the PS3: it gives us games that delviers to the fans, not mushy softcore bull.

What do you all think of this? Agree? Disagree? Let's talk about it!

Hi no Seijin

At this point, I don't really care; I play games mostly for the story and the genre, with RPGs, especially tactical RPGs, heading the top of the list of my personal favorites.  It just so happens that many of those games are for the PlayStation consoles.  All other games I usually ignore.

Well, I have to agree with you on this. They don't really release any games worthwhile anymore...I think they are just running out of ideas. And they are pulling very desperate moves just to keep themselves running. Or maybe, they're just bathing in their money so much that they don't seem to care anymore. I now realize how broken Pokemon XD was compared to every other game I have, but I still play it, because unlike Shadow the Hedgehog (EW!), Pokemon XD is fun and has a story that is easily followed. However, these games are for the GC, so I'm going off topic, par say.
You see, I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, and nowadays, I haven't seen any good games for the GC on Star Wars ever since Bounty Hunter, Rogue Squadron, and Clone Wars. (Clone Wars isn't that good, so I hear.) They only just released Star Wars: Clone Wars duels for the Wii, as well as Force unleashed, and that is a good game, so they say, but that's about it. If Nintendo doesn't start getting they're rear in gear, I'm going Sony. Battlefront I and II could've made it to the GC, Republic Commando should have been released for the GC, and if the rumored Battlefront III, if released, doesn't make it for the Wii, then once again, I'm going Sony.

I will have to say that Nintendo is going a bit down hill. Almost every game i have seen released by them is no good, but yes, they are going very down hill, they need some gig like what xbox is doing for halo wars, hope they come out with something big soon. Nintendo is really losing its edge...

Hi no Seijin

Nintendo's gig/gimmick is the balance board and the motion sensors.

I don't think it's Nintendo ruining the Wii, it's the third party developers. But I've already said that. The Mario and Zelda games and such are still good, Metroid Prime 3 was top-notch. It's just that the third-party companies can't get their act together and look at the Wii as more than a gimmick.

Well is what they need to do with the wii, is make some amazing game like how xbox has halo. If they do that, idk, maybe something big for nintendo would happen

*ahem*

[Twilight Wolf]Nintendo shouldn't be handing out licenses to third-party developers like candy.[/Twilight Wolf]

Let Nintendo hand out licenses willy nilly.  If third-party developers aren't seeing past the Wii's gimmicks, then you should be mad at them, not at Nintendo.  Unless, you know, they can't see past their own system's gimmicks.

What?  Are you forgetting about Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, Smash Brothers, and Metroid?  They're iconic Nintendo franchises, just as Halo is an iconic Xbox franchise.

I'm one of those Nintendo fanboys, so as soon as I read MasterKey's post, I was ready to make a fierce comeback. But I'm sick of defending Nintendo. I like Zelda. And that's it. Not Nintendo. I used to like Mario too, but they murdered him with awful Mario Party games.I got really excited for Mario Galaxy, but that was just a failed revival. My love for Nintendo died with the Italian plumber But if I don't play Wii, I don't play anything. Although the Wii is terrible, the PS3 and Xbox 360 have their flaws too. I've spent so much time defending Nintendo, I've come to hate their rivals.

But Nintendo has got me in a snag. If I don't play Wii, how will I play Zelda?

And that snag, my friends, is why Nintendo can afford to make a super-secret weapon of mass destruction and take over the universe a new research building.

Well, I am just saying, more people i know seem to be into those war first person shooter based games. So Nintendo should try and go into something like that, i tell you, i would most likely buy it. I haven't bought a wii game since Twilight princess.

Maybe if something interesting actually happened, like Square Enix going back to Nintendo and making FF games for Nintendo again. Remember FFVI? Ah, those were the days...
And from what I've seen, they only make one Smash bros game per generation. Pokemon has been falling, in my perspective. Zelda, well, there is still room for improvement, but for Mario, I never was a Mario fan, and I wont start now. I couldn't care less about Mario. I've been getting interested in Kirby, and I wanna try out a Star fox game, and Metroid is another suggestion.

The only problem is, Nintendo refuses to release it in the US, when, in reality, it's the kind of dramatic, action-packed, nonsensical crap most Americans usually like.

Actually, according to Reggie Fils-Aime, there is a possibility of it being released into the U.S., but it depends on how well it sells in Europe. We may get this game yet.
