Hand held systems?

I was just going to make a PSP topic, but i figured that was too general, so i just made a handheld one, not sure if this has been made already...but here you can discuss all your handheld needs and games... the systems i have currently are a PSP of course, which i love because i can get on the internet with it when all the computers in the house are used, and i have a nintendo DS, which I am letting my friend barrow, but i plan on getting it back from him soon, curse that Carl kid never returning my stuff when he says he will. lol Mags knows what i am talking about ;D

Hi no Seijin

First, having a thread about only the PSP is a specific topic; devoting a thread to all handheld systems is a general topic.  The broader the range of topics, the more general it is.

Second, I would go on about Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and FFTA2, but I think Rabies would be the only person who would know what I'm ranting about, and he's never on TDC anymore.  Hardly on AIM much as well.

I've played and beat FFTA and am somewhat into FFTA2.

Rant on.

Hi no Seijin

What I said to Mags via a PM:
QuoteSquare Enix messed up a bit with FFTA2.  Red Mages no longer have Poison and Sleep, battles start with 0 MP, Beastmaster is wrecked, and Morpher is gone, further destroying the point of having Beastmaster in the game.  Also, Chocobo Knights should be allowed to equip guns and at least use them and the Fusilier abilities while riding a Chocobo.  It would also help if Chocobo Knights summoned the chocobo instead of having to catch them in the wild; it would make the Chocobo Knights a bit more versatile.

To elaborate on Beastmasters being wrecked, back in FFTA, their range was four squares when they attempted to control a monster.  If the nu mou was successful, you would have to wait until you got to move the monster and make it perform an action.  But in FFTA2, the range is knocked down to two, and you have to make the monster perform an action right then, which may not work out to your advantage.  They might have been redeemed (at least in my eyes) if they had the best HP and Weapon ATK growths of the nu mou, but Scholar matches them, and has decent stats to help the nu mou become a better mage.  Without the Morpher job, I have no reason to have a nu mou master a few Beastermaster abilities.

Then there's Al-Cid, who only has access to the Agent job.  Don't get me wrong, Al-Cid is an interesting character, and the Agent job goes well with my mostly female clan, but he only gets Agent, so he can't learn more abilities that would make him a greater asset in battle.  And if there is any equipment that teaches him a Reaction or Passive ability, I have yet to come across it.

It also seems a bit unfair that enemy viera can learn Counter, but vieras in your clan cannot.  Spellblades look like they can learn Counter.

Thieves were also nerfed.  It's understandable that they should pick up Steal Items and Steal Loot (Lv. 1-4), and it's awesome that they can now steal boots, but they lost the ability to steal weapons, helms, shields, and armor.  Now if I want to steal armor, I need to remember to bring along my seeq with the Viking abilities equipped.

I love the new law system, but some of the laws are just ridiculous.  Such as the law that forbids abilities that knock back a unit; if you critical hit an enemy unit, and there isn't something behind it, you lose clan privileges.

Tonberries are also rather broken when they start off two squares away from you.

I agree with just about everything you said.

Starting off with 0 MP makes Mages with high MP spells almost useless since you have to wait to be able to cast the spell.

Some laws are indeed dumb and unnecessary.

Hi no Seijin

And changing the MP cost of the Ultima abilities from 60 to 32 doesn't help much when you have to wait four turns to use it.  Two if you have Halve MP equipped.  One if you have Halve MP equipped and are using MP Efficiency.  Honestly, I would take the 60 MP cost with full MP at the start of battles over the 32 MP cost with 0 MP at the start of battles.

I really like the Ratchet and Clank games they have for the PSP, the one i played, i believe it was the first one made for PSP, was like the best ratchet and clank game I've played in awhile. It had amazing graphics for a handheld device, thats what i love about the PSP's so much more than any other hand held system, is you can do just about anything with it, like serf the web, and then you can store music and movies in it(if you have a big enough memory stick which i sadly do not :(), and another thing about them is the games graphics, almost every single one of the game's I've ever played on the PSP has amazing graphics. My only problem is, i have the original PSP, and man, that things lags out so bad, I need to get one of the new ones, which i heard there isn't a lag like the original PSP has. If I'm not mistaking, i don't know for sure...

Gamefreak

I have the original PSP and it works just fine.

And Ratchet and Clank Size Matters was the best one you've played in a while?  I suggest you pick up Tools of Destruction for your PS3.

jdubroxs

Well then, maybe its just my PSP. Because almost every game I have played on it has a terrible lag within the game... I dont really know why either...

For the record, Tonberries are supposed to be broken. >.>

As for me, I gave my GBA to my sister when I got her Pokemon Emerald. I have a DS now (Limited Pokemon Edition, FTW!), so I hope to get some games for it later. Everyone probably knows which one is first on my list, of course. :P

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

See, usually I don't mind because they start on the other side of the field from me and I can typically bring them down before they OHKO me.

Oh, and another thing about FFTA2.  The Phoenix summon doesn't kill undead in one hit anymore.  But once they've been brought down to 0 HP, Phoenix has a 100% chance to completely remove them from battle, as well as Burial and Exorcise.

I'm really looking forward to Pokemon Platinum. I heard there were 40 new pokemon released. Is this true?  :-\

Hi no Seijin

As in 40 new ones past the first 493?  I have heard no such thing; people might be getting confused about the alternate forms some of the Pokemon are being given in Platinum.
