I think it would have become stale, but we can't really know for certain.
I am very respectful of the decisions Nintendo has made for the series, even if I don't consider them the best. I don't have a DS, so no way I'm playing it anytime sooner, but oh well.

Well, it is, if you look at the trailer it shows it being played on a DSi.

Actually, I think the video specifies it as being a DS game. But they could always change the system, a la Twilight Princess.

Still, it was probably only played on a DSi for advertisement purposes. I would be pretty disappointed if it was DSi-only, though. I suppose we should just all cross our fingers.

If it's any consolation, most official reports say it's for DS, so it could be that they specified it already at the conference outside of the video. I didn't watch it, so I don't know for sure.

Guys, it's a April Fools joke. It's blatanly obvious. The conducter suit, the shadow-guard, THE FREAKING TRAIN, they would never do this stuff.

ALSO: This is almost certainly not an April Fool's joke. Major companies don't make up major news at major conferences.
