Okay so, Im not quite sure if this has already made its way to the forums or not, I havn't been here in awhile.
Anyway, what's you all's oppinions on this whole, "The world ends in 2012" thing?
Me personally, I try to pay no heed to it, but it does nag at my fears somtimes.

I think it is a bunch of bologna. People said the same thing about y2k.

FunTykoon

It's a bunch of bull. Some people go to extreme measures to get attention. This is one of those measures.

Commodore Axilon

No, that's not it at all.

The Mayan calendar ended one of its cycles on December 21, 2012. This got misinterpreted by someone (the media?) as the Mayans predicting the end of the world at that date. Add in some Christian mythology and the History Channel and you have the situation today.

It's just one of those things that people believe due to ignorance of the actual subject.

FunTykoon

I knew that. I can give thousands of reasons why it ended that day. Some dude wanted attention.

Mysterious F.

I once played a nice little prank on all of you and made you believe I believed that crap.

Good times.  :P

Same here.
But remember, there have been a lot of times in the world where people thought the world was gonna end.
Remember 6/6/06?

But the Mayans probably all just got killed so that's why the calendar stops.

Takun

I went to disney on 6/6/06, it wasnt until the end of the day that I realized the world should've ended already.

I've heard all that too. They just never got around to completing the next calender, I suppose.

I wonder why people seem to be so fascinated with our own demise. I mean, why dont we just live life until one day it happens? Honestly, I dont think I want to know when we're all going to die. I like the idea of blind stupidity.

Ignorance is bliss.

I'm with you all the way.

Haha, we should all get together and have a giant end of the world party.
Anyway, back on topic, any one have any guesses on how it'll happen?(Yes, I do realize that I just completely destroyed my desire to be ignorant about this)

There is the creepy and slightly sad Christian way to look at it...

Then there is my way.

The world will be knocked off course be a giant meteorite towards the sun frying us all.

Right now there is a large Meteorite (Chronus I think it's called) heading for us but luck has it that it has yet to go throught the Asteroid belt so it'll probably be knocked off course.

Takun

That is quite a morbid way to look at it...I wonder what that would be like? Just a giant earthquake?
I dont think I'd like to fry, I hate the heat.
Im betting on a zombie apocalypse.

That'd be a fun way to have it end.

Another way I'd look is the bee's disappearing leads to world starvation.

I see the bees leave, cause a drop in pollenation, we over-eat, everything dies out.
