No, that's not it at all.

The Mayan calendar ended one of its cycles on December 21, 2012. This got misinterpreted by someone (the media?) as the Mayans predicting the end of the world at that date. Add in some Christian mythology and the History Channel and you have the situation today.

It's just one of those things that people believe due to ignorance of the actual subject.

I was about the say the same thing myself.  You and I area  lot alike.

I see the bees leave, cause a drop in pollenation, we over-eat, everything dies out.

I see the goverments mass hording pollen and sprinkling it over crops with low flying planes. Give it another shot.

Twilight Wolf

What will they do when they run out of pollen?

That'd be a fun way to have it end.

Another way I'd look is the bee's disappearing leads to world starvation.

As long as I have mah cows.

What will your cows eat once the vegetation dies out due to lack of pollenation and, thus, reproduction?
What, you expect me to say something witty?

But the Mayans probably all just got killed so that's why the calendar stops.
If I remember my history correctly, they all did get killed.

They always get hyped about the next date for the end of the world, I predict that the next one will be 2033, two thousand years after the death of JC

I don't look forward to the next announcement, i look forward to the theories.

MagmarFire

I do find it odd how people would freak out about the end of the world happening on 6/6/06 when that same date occurs once every freaking century.

The world will be knocked off course be a giant meteorite towards the sun frying us all.

lol 10nos ;D

A meteorite that massive would have enough momentum to completely obliterate life way before knocking the earth off-course.

Anyway, insert the obligatory "Mags's Spiel on the End of Mankind by Making References to Daniel Quinn" here.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

I meant clone the cows.

Awesome, we'll have millions of cows.  Doesn't change the fact that they'll starve.

The Glamour Nazi

Feeding a million cows will get rid of *Our* food.

Making our demise quicker.
