Well, upgrades are in part relate to RPG's, but this is not as explored in Zelda, you can only upgrade things like health, magic, strength and deffense, but already at a set level.
In any case, the RPG classification of Zelda is wrong in my eyes, it's an adventure/puzzle/action game, and that's why I love it so much.

I suppose that if you just take the word "Role-Play Game", there's a suffecient enough argument for some obstinate jerk to push his idea for a really long time. You are playing the role of Link, but then pretty much every game would be an RPG. So I dunno.

I was looking through the game selection at Wal-mart the other day, and I noticed that Nintendo has really gone overboard with Mario and Sonic.

Most of those games are cliche', and from what I heard, they aren't that impressive.

I don't find that possible as Sega is the North American developer for those games. Nintendo only covers the Japanese versions. So if you see a lot of the Sega characters have more skill, now you know why.
