Hi no Seijin

That is really awesome about Re:coded being on the DS, because I like using cell phones as a means to communicate.  You know, like they were originally designed to do?

COULD. NOT. AGREE. MORE!!!!
I am so stunned by this new trailer.
Is there a release date yet? Holy cow I have to watch it again.

MagmarFire

According to Reggie, it's slated for release next year, so nothing definite yet. We could've seen it coming.

And yes, I need to see it again, too. Too much win to not.

Also, Valve is finally giving the PS3 some love.

Tears of joy right here, guys.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

Hi no Seijin

Did anybody else get a decidedly Zelda feel watching the Kid Icarus Uprising trailer?  I'm definitely interested in it.

And is the new Donkey Kong Country game an enhanced remake?  Or is it supposed to be an entirely new game?

It seems to be a trend now to make new games of old franchises in the style of the older games.  They did the same thing with New Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Mega Man 9 and 10.

Hi no Seijin

Is anyone hearing anything about Okami or Golden Sun?  Fisk?  Tacheon?

Can't wait for a new Golden Sun. Nintendo freaking RAWKED this E3. Marvel Vs Capcom doesn't look bad either. SHORYUKEN!! Kid Icarus huh? sigh... I guess I sort of have to buy a 3DS now... I was kind of hoping it would be for the Wii, but you know what? I don't mind. We asked for Pit and we got him. Metroid looks awesome again, and I really hope it's worth the money I'm gonna spend on it. Am I missing anything here? Oh, wait, there's that Zelda game too. It was kind of the weaker point of Nintendo's E3. I think everyone was really waiting for Donkey Kong. HOLY CRAP I SWEAR TO GOD IF LOZ:SS IS NOT OUT IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR FROM YESTERDAY I'M GOING TO BREAK INTO THE HQ AND TAKE IT MYSELF.

I'm going to post here what I posted at the talk forums:

-----

#1. The Trailer

#2. Miyamoto's demonstration

#3. Showfloor Gameplay Demo

So what are your thoughts?

What I've noticed from the youtube public is the resentment towards the cell shaded graphics. To be honest with you all, I was actually hoping for something like this. The Twilight Princess graphics were just too dark for a Zelda game. I loved the colorful mix of cartoony fantasy and real danger that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask made us feel. I loved how it didn't have to be dark to feel dark. The best games are not always composed of amazingly realistic graphics. I love the fact that they're going back to being a bit bright with the series.

The controls looked pretty sketchy when Miyamoto was demonstrating. It looked unresponsive, and he didn't seem to know how to use his own controller. Even though he was assuring us that it was interference from all the wireless communications going on the audience. If you watch the "Showfloor Gameplay Demo" link that I included in this post, you'll see that the controls actually look pretty smooth. I was relieved to see everything working much better. I really like the new item system. No more pausing the action to set an item to a button.

The bombs look to provide a lot more dungeon puzzle options. With the ability to roll, throw, or place them, it looks to be awesome. Bowling will never be the same after you roll a bomb into a group of enemies, I'll tell you h'what. Don't know what to think about the whip or the beetle. I simply didn't see enough of either of them to measure out their uses. I'd probably just be using the beetle to scout out the area to see just what I'm up against around the corner. The whip... I just... I guess it's kinky? If you could wrap it around an enemy's foot, and whip their legs out from under them(finishing them off with a jerk of your sword), that'd be awesome. Epic enough for me to give the whip a thumbs up.

Last notes:
- Hooray for being able to shoot beams! :D
- This is the fastest I've ever seen Link run (without Pegasus boots)
- OKTOROKS!!

Oh, shush, I'm buying it on the PC, too. It's just that seeing Valve, or at least Gabe Newell, have come a full 180 degrees about the PS3 does my heart glad.

I'm considering buying it for the PS3, too, though, if only to check out the Steamworks integration. I can imagine the feeling of sheer geek bliss from playing Portal 2 on my desktop, saving, and picking up right where I left off with the PS3 version.

My only possible gripe with this new Zelda, and this isn't even Zelda's fault, is that I've always been iffy about Wii controls in general.  I've always thought that the idea of adding Gamecube controls as an alternative to Wii games would be a plus.

I'm always iffy about the Wii controls. A good ol' fashion controller just always feels so much more familiar in my hands. I feel unstoppable with it. With the Wiimote and Nunchuck, I feel like I'm holding a pair a scissors with boxing gloves.
