Your IRRATIONAL fears

That's right, it's time for talking about fears, but only the irrational ones.  I don't need to know about you being terrified of centipedes because one was hiding in your clarinet and when you put it up to your mouth to use it you got a mouthful of squirming legs (that happened to my mom though, lol), I want to know about you being terrified of guinea pigs for no particular reason.

Some of my irrational fears include loud toilets (even worse because we have an eardrum-rattling one in the house... come to think of it, that might've started the fear).  When I was a kid, the loud as hell noise made reminded me of demons and so I used to think the toilet was demonic or something.  I used to have to bolt out of the room whenever I flushed one.  If I watched a show that gets you in a creepy mood, like Ghost Hunters, I sometimes still do.

A semi-rational fear is of bathroom fans, but that's mainly because the sound it makes when it starts up (or at least, the one in my house), it sounds like a wallmaster getting ready to drop on you.  I was absolutely terrified of wallmasters when I first started the Zelda series (although they just looked goofy in aLttP, which was the first Zelda game I ever played).  I dunno why, but I guess that's why I'm mentioning it here.

The two weirdest things I'm afraid of, though, are closets and stairs.  Everyone's had that fear-of-stairs moment at least once in their life, when they're being followed by some hungry little child-eating monster and the only way to (just barely of course, you can almost feel his creepy hand desperately reaching out for your ankle as you hit the sanctuary of the next floor) escape is to sprint as fast as you can.  Yeah.  And when I was a kid, I dreamed that my closet was a portal to hell, and that's why I'm terrified of them.  Then again, my mom apparently had the same dream around the same year, which makes it creepier.

So yeah, share share share.

Balloons, flushing toilets, and microwaves, to name a few. Mostly just the cubby my grandma's microwave was in, though I'm not too trusting of other microwaves, either. My grandma's stairwell terrified me, too.

umm. roller coasters, cars, moths (because I found one in the mouth piece of my saxophone once) XP (just kidding. Im not afraid of moths, but there really was one there).

One of my friends is afraid of glitter.

I just recently got over my fear of blenders, I always used to plug my ears whenever I was going to turn one on, I don't know, the noise was so loud that I felt that I wouldn't be able to hear someone sneaking behind me.

Also, I used to be scared of wearing those monsters masks, because I thought that the monster entity would take over me. Watching them didn't scare me, though.

I'm afraid of comitment, is that irrational?

I used to be afraid of loud toilets when I was a kid.  I guess the most irrational fear I have is a fear of crowds, well, sort of.

Pyrgusfinn

Oh. I'm also afraid of being late for things. umm. and of having to talk after long periods of silence. sometimes. (I'm that antisocial kid. yeah)

I'm terrified of what would happen to the world if Sarah Palin ever got replaced as Alaska's governor. Good thing that'll never happen though.

Also eating pickles.

Pale Dim

Very skinny hallways. If I'm the only one in the family who can walk through them with no trouble, we have a problem.
At my last house, we had one of those. When I walked through it, I would always fear that my sister would be coming around the corner in front of me. She was particularly wide enough to walk through only a usual sized hallway, like, 2-3 feet wide, so if she was to come through that hallway, which was only 1 1/2 feet wide (I measured), I was doomed.
And she when she walks, she's like a tank; Once she starts up, she will not heed to any obsticale!

Hi no Seijin

It's not irrational, but I'm fine with heights as long as there is something sturdy beneath my feet, but replace that with something like rope or a tree branch and I'm scared to fall.

Is astraphobia considered irrational?

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

Hi no Seijin

Is astraphobia the fear of the stars?  If so, then yeah, probably.

Ever since I was little, I'm afraid when someone walks in my room at night. Like, when the lights are off and my mom or sister walk in, I still jump.

Until a few years ago, I was afraid to sleep facing the window in fear of somebody coming inside through it.

These seem kinda silly. XD

Errm...

I don't really know.

Does really really strong wind count? (Like the kind of wind, that if you jump it kinda pushes you.  :P)

And err... I don't know if really loud noises count or not, either.  :P

I wouldn't call it a fear but I hate really loud tumble dryers/ washing machines, but I guess it is rational because a few years ago our tumble dryer blew up, causing the washing machine to catch fire and our laundry room being completely gutted by the resulting fire ><

But I can't stand insects, especially the thought of them in my hair, no paricular reason so I guess it is irrational. Especially medium to large insects, I don't mind tiny bugs, but anything bigger and I freak out. I'm not even scared of them biting or anything just the... crawling *shivers*
