The next Smash Brothers game

So my friend made his own custom roster for the next Smash game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQKNfHia7kg&feature=channel

It's a four part video, so...yeah. But it's actually pretty interesting.

Anyhow, he's suggested quite a few new characters that seem like they'd be a good choice. Such as Tingle.

I'm still debating over whether Link transforming to Wolf Link would be a good idea though...I know it's a popular one, but I just don't want to screw with his formula when it's worked so well.

After all, if Link would need to transform using any of his specials, he'd have to sacrifice three signature moves that are really important to his metagame (when they're not nerfed nine ways from Monday, that is...).

His Spin Attack would most definitely stay because his recovery is bad enough as it is... SideB would be too troublesome, as that would sacrifice a good projectile of his. DownB would also be bad, since his bombs are really good for mindgames and can also help benefit recovery in admittedly-rare situations. But of course, when the situation presents itself, they can really help.

Having Wolf Link as a separate character would be more satisfactory, thus.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

That's what I thought as well. I was also toying with the idea of suggesting Midna as her own character, with the ability to transform between her imp and human forms. Mostly because of a possibly really awesome final smash where she uses the Dark Relic thing to turn into that big blob of multi-armed death. I suppose she could do that with Wolf Link as well though.

I also question the effectiveness of Ridley in a battle game like Smash. I mean, I understand why people want him in there, but shouldn't he be flying around the whole time? It just seems like that would be more realistic, but it's not fair, so I dunno.

Hi no Seijin

Yeah, I'm not comfortable with having Link transform into Wolf Link.  As a separate character, however....I'm more in favor of a Deku Link/Goron Link/Zora Link transformation.

Ridley in Smash....Yeah, I'm against him as part of the roster as well, but only because he's large.

I'm putting together my own roster to publish on deviantART in essay form.

You know, I was kind of hoping he'd explain the movesets he made for the new characters, and the ones that he changed. He told me them, and the basics of each character, maybe I'll ask him to put up the new movesets. I think I remember Tingle's. Up B was the balloon, and I think the other ones were Tingle Bombs, Confetti...something else.

Toad was gonna be this fast and strong dude.

First, let me introduce myself. I am pizzadudemanguy. I have "created" a new Smash Bros. game through my words. I have spreadsheets and spreadsheets detailing every character, stage, mode, feature, moveset, adventure mode and plot to the finest tune of gameplay. I plan to put up YouTube videos explaining so.

On the note of Link, I only add Wolf Link as a new transformation rather than his own character entirely simply because there was not enough room and I wanted to incorporate a playable Wolf Link. My roster is subject to change I'm always willing to take suggestion, so if people like Link's moveset over having Wolf Link and Midna playable, I'm willing to do that. However, I will not replace Tingle as a PC.

On the note of Ridley, he IS the best choice for a second Metroid character. Size is no problem: Throughout the Mario series, Bowser is seen in all sorts of sizes. The original Kraid was only as tall as Samus. I detail that Ridley is only as big as Bowser, with his wingspan extending as large as is proportioned to the rest of his body as shown in the Metroid series. In terms of mobility, Ridley has been shown to station himself on the ground before attacking. Have you noticed that when Meta Knight runs in Brawl, he glides slightly above along the ground? I imagine Ridley doing this when moving.

As a moveset example, I will show Tingle's basic moveset and, if anyone's interested, I'll explain more on request:

B: Tingle Bomb-Tingle tosses out a Toon styled bomb. While he can not hold it and use it strategically like Link, it is more sudden and surprising.

B>: Tingle Fireworks-A new weapon from Tingle's Rupeeland. Think of it as a fast projectile version of Peach's Melee B> attack with more knockback in the form of a confetti explosion.

B^: Tingle Balloon-Tingle inflates a balloon and starts slowly drifting upwards. While the balloon is active, Tingle will slowly float upward, but will still have the ability to move and use any of his normal and other special moves as he floats. After a certain amount of time, the balloon will pop, by pressing B^ it will pop, or an opponent can pop it with a powerful enough move. Any of these will cause Tingle to fall.

Bv: Knockout Gas-Another new weapon from Rupeeland. It's a bottle of KO Gas that Tingle smashes against the ground. The gas spreads a very short range around Tingle. Opponents who touch the gas go unconscious for a few seconds.

Thank you.

DW

The Tingle balloon, when it's popped, would Tingle fall straight down really quickly like on the Termina stage and Majora's Mask, or would you be able to control your fall somewhat?

It would be like the fall of any other character when their B^ has run out.

Well...Link is a steady character for a lot of people. It just seems like changing his formula may cause more problems than solutions. On the other hand, it would definitely help distinguish Link and Toon Link as seperate, non-cloned characters. However, having both Link and Wolf Link would create issues with a new storyline. Though I suppose, in the story mode, Link could be turned into a wolf and you play as Wolf Link, until a certain part where he's turned back into normal Link, then you can choose between the two of them when you start new stages...though that's also troublesome. Hmm.

I think a main reason Wolf Link was wanted, though, was due to the fact that Twilight Princess was the most recent, large console game. It had been quite a while since Wind Waker, which a lot of people had discarded as terrible simply because of the change in graphical style. For a lot of people, it was the first Zelda game they played, and there are still a large amount of more casual gamers who haven't touched the older games. Maybe OoT or one of the Gameboy games, but I think ALttP is a game that hasn't been played much by people who weren't around when it came out. On a side note, Bunny Link would be hilarious in a Smash game.

I liked the idea for Agahnim that you had in another one of your videos, actually. Another Zelda villain that is more focused on the magical aspect than the brute force/strength. In fact, pretty much every evil character in the Smash games has been the strong, slow type. It'd be nice to see a lighter, faster villain like Vaati or Agahnim. Dark Matter would have been fun as well.

Wait, what was I talking about before? Wolf Link, right. Umm, it just seems like it would upset too many Link fans if they had their character changed like that. Maybe Wolf Link as a seperate character, but I kind of find myself doubting the ability of a quadruped being able to fight effectively in a game like Smash. Mostly the issue of grabbing on to ledges, though I guess Midna could do that with her shadow hand. In fact, now that I think about it, integrating Midna into Wolf Link's moveset would fix a lot of my concerns, such as the Up+B. If she just shot her big red hand out, she could grab ledges from a fair distance probably.

Actually, that was my plan, to have Midna and Wolf Link together. Midna was very popular, even though she appeared in only one game, and on that note, Sheik is still playable in SSBB despite her lone appearance.

In my new adventure, characters who transform have something special: You can transform, of course, in the middle of a level, but what form you are in will affect the following cut-scene, both visually and by what happens.

As a reminder, we already have Ivysaur as a playable quadruped.

Also, I do have Dark Matter (from Kirby) as a playable character. He is a light-weight entity of evil with a sword.

In my new moveset for Ganondorf, Ganondorf uses magic rather than brute force for his special moves.

There is the problem, though, of tether recoveries being considered a pretty bad form of recovery if it's the only recovery a character has. For instance, it is true that a character could, say, be stage spiked from a tether, such as from Ivysaur's, but if Zair edgehogging is still a technique in the original game, it would nullify its effectiveness if you're against a character with a godly Zair like Link's.

Advanceshipping and Rion had better be Chuck Norris approved.

pizzadudemanguy

In this particular case, I was planning on having Midna and Wolf Link having a tether recovery grab with the throw button, but their B^ would be the Wolf Spin Attack.

MagmarFire

I like that idea, actually. It kind of makes me laugh thinking about Wolf Link spinning in the air like a helicopter. XD

Hi no Seijin

Smash Bros. need more spear and axe users, as well as Lyn (zomg i love her blade lord sprite).  The way I figure it, Ephraim and Titania could be the representative spear and axe wielders.

I'd also love to see Nabooru enter the fray dual wielding a pair of scimitars.

Yes but titania is a paladin, it'd be somewhat broken to give ehr a horse, and wrong to take her off of it, if anyone should have been the axe user in brawl it should be boyd

I'd actually like to see a bow user in brawl, maybe rolf?
