Is America on the way of becoming Fascist?

We are not becoming fascist. I don't even want to discuss this, I'm so tired of it being taken to extremes. "Oh fascism!" "Oh Socialism!"

Ugh.

We may be leaning more towards that side due to the situation, but we are not fascist. The President doesn't have nearly the amount of power a Fascist dictator does.

Read the article. It's NOT about the president, but about right wing groups.

Mysterious F.

Anyone else find that article very, very similar to this (very funny) cartoon from Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine? Seriously?

Wow, who would have thought that right-wingers, who usually talk their mouth off about how left-wingers are no-good fascist willing to destroy every moral standard of this country, are doing EXACTLY what they accuse other people of?  :P

darkphantomime

Despite how often both sides accuse the other of being Fascist, Fascism is generally a right wing affair, just look throughout history at Franco, Hitler, and Mussolini. They were all Right-wing.

You know, if more teenagers were interested in politics like you, JQ, then mabye when our generation comes into power, we coulda actually done some good. Too bad they were listening to Lady Gaga on the iPODS and downloading the latest sneezing panda video on YouTube instead.  ;)

Well, the one who made the article said that their next article would address how we can possibly reverse this trend. I can't wait for it.  :D

Except I'm not a teenager anymore. I'm turning 21 in six weeks.

Really? That's gre... (Whoops, I almost spoke too soon there.) Well, you're still pretty young.

So anyway, where exactly does this put communism? Are they simply to be brushed into the large pile of political parties/theories called facism, or are they something else entirely? I've always considered all dictatorships to be in the same category, but...

*Clears throat*

JQ, I'm not sure if it's your intention or not, but could you please stop identifying me with the far right?  It's fine if you think the Republican Party will bring about the death of America as we know it, but when you send me these links on a common basis on my Facebook account, it seems like you're trying to prove a point about my ideals.

I am Republican, but only moderately so.  I voted for McCain because  I thought he was the lesser of two evils compared to Obama, and I still don't regret that decision.  I am not in the same league with people such as Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh, nor do I ever care to be.

Mysterious F.

Mabye he just sent them to everyone here who he contacts on Facebook, you included?

Still, this is a little unlike you, Gamefreak. It's more like me to oppose him right in the open. Usually when you find some sort of problem with someone else, you contact them in private.

That is quite incorrect.

Well, I don't have one, so I wouldn't know.

I'm not sending it to you because I think you identify with the far right, but rather, I feel it might create some interest when it comes to political discussion.

Not trying to troll here, just trying to get some feedback from you, big man.

And I did show that link to a few others on facebook, though I didn't get any comments from those others.

Besides, I wouldn't show it to HNS because he's always telling me how he isn't interested in politics at all.

A dictatorship is not the only thing that defines a fascist state, you know.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that Stalin/Mao-style authoritarian Marxism is the only kind of communism, which, I assure you, is not even remotely the case.

Mysterious F.

I said that because, basically, that's the most prominent form of communism in current-day society. At least from the political standpoint.

And I just said I considered all dictatorships to be the same. And that's true in the end.
