In recent weeks, the mouthpiece of The Pirate Bay, Peter Sunde, aka "BrokeP", has publicly stated he plans to "step down" as the media head and shoulders and leading vocal activist of The Pirate Bay. Although he still can be found lurking the halls of The Pirate Bay's irc channel, the once "bullhorn" for the "battleships", has gone mute. Such actions, and total lack of certainty for the future, have led many to demand the total removal of their accounts, and the deletion of all their content from the popular bit torrent tracker.

GGF's frontman, The internet cafe software firm's CEO Hans Pandeya, has stated, ""A group of investors are prepared to inject 30m [kronor] relating to the cash portion of the purchase price of The Pirate Bay at the date of acquistion..." also leading on to say that GGF may adopt "The Pirate Bay" as the complete name of their organization if the process goes as planned. What is yet to be known, is how, or with what content, the site will be managed at.

The blogs coming out of TPB as of late, have all shown that users are upset, feeling as if their hero of the ages, the ones who would never fail, have snuck into their bedroom while they were sleeping, and slid a knife into their back. That fan base, cannot be duplicated, and furthermore, is also causing the uncertainty for what will happen to The Pirate Bay, as a "pay site". Even The Bay founders, have stated, that TPB must "evolve" in order to survive, that the "internets are a competitive world" and without the garnishing of new goals and resources, they fear TPB would "die".

What remains to be seen is who will step up as the shining star in the world of Bit Torrent, as many of the competitors of TPB, are also facing legal disputes. Recently, http://isohunt.com has been fighting an uphill battle with the CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association), and the other once popular domain, http://www.mininova.org/ have induced and forced "content/copyright filters" on their torrents, and you never know when it will be flagged. The Alexa stats for The Pirate Bay show not yet much decline, only dropping a single point in Traffic Rank, not bad amidst rumors and presumed failure for the future of TPB.

TPB, the once holy grail of the torrent sites, has finally sank. This industry, this world, was changed by the antics and sometimes over-antics of those behind the bay, whom laughed in the faces of giants, such as Microsoft, Pixar, Columbia Pictures, Universal Studios, the MPAA, the RIAA, and other worldwide corporations and anti-piracy advocates. May suggest, that the attitude of "never walk the plank" and "go down fighting" was the reason so many felt they could trust The Pirate Bay, they never thought that they would succumb to this end result.

Most noticeably, they inspired political movements, with government representatives backing them (in minority positions), helping to inspire/fight the culture wars, with new found leaderships such as "The Pirate Party". They fought off the invading corporate ran money machines, fought off the courts, as long as they could, and in the end, battered, tired, and bruised from war, they decided to live to fight another day, rather than be a part, of the ultimately doomed-to-sink ship.

outfit of torrent traffic ceases, where will they go? There are many rising stars in the torrent world, and many alternatives, but that is yet to be proven. All torrent sites are seeing stabilizing numbers and increases in members, as everyone, who will never "pay" for what they can get for "free", begins to set sail for on a new ship, for the new island they can claim as their home.

I don't think GFX will be able to come up with the money to pay for TPB. I don't really care for TPB anyway, I prefer Demonoid.

I perfer IP torrents but I also use a public site called Extratorrent its new but its real good and fast speeds lol I still cant believe what happened to them
