Do you support gay marriage

Yes
No

Mysterious F.

Well, do you support gay marriage?

I do. I honestly think it's downright stupid to deny people the right to wed someone they love simply because they are the same gender. Sure, several opposers have argued that the definition of marriage is

"  the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.  "

and therefore same-sex marriage is not an actual marriage. However, this definition was created primarily by heteros-only sexists who cannot stand anyone disagreeing with them, so I do not follow this definition.

Additionally, many Christians also believe that homosexuality is a "sin" due to several parts of the Bible that come across as anti-homosexual, most notably a scene where gay men attempt to rape an angel, only to be stopped by another man who says that it is "unnatural." However, being an atheist, I plain old couldn't care less.

Love is love, no matter who you experience it with.

Hi no Seijin

I believe that love is completely natural, even if it is between two members of the same sex.  It only seems unnatural because the biological norm for humans is for two members of the opposite sex to procreate; this, obviously, cannot happen between two women naturally.

Some animals (other than humans) have shown themselves to be homosexual. Like Penguins or ducks.

Oh yes, the infamous gay penguins.  :)

Yeah, homosexuality isn't a human "problem" in anyway, people. Even flies have gotten around to it.

Pale Dim

lol. Apparently it's a spreading trend!

If you take a look at it, and I don't mean to sound like a politician, but saying that you don't support gay marriage is like saying that you don't support African American's living next door to you. Its denying the rights of everyday humans, just because of who they are, what they are, and/or what they do. Personally, I don't think that anybody has any right to judge, especially since sexuality is something that people don't usually announce to the public.
Personally, I think that it should be a serious criminal offense to judge negatively on people because of who or what they are. This country was founded so we could get away from overzealous laws and demands, right? Now, I know what you are thinking (After we landed, we slaughtered anyone who looked like us), but times have changed, and we are slowly beginning to accept a diverse economy. And everyone has damn-well better get used to it, because no matter what we do, this country is and always will be a multi-cultural country.

I remember I used to have gay Guinea Pigs. That...was interesting.  :-[

Well, as expected, it seems that anyone who votes no isn't capable of admitting they did so.

DW

Not sure how to vote. Don't think it's right, but I think people should have the choice. Also don't wanna go through the whole stupid debate from last time.

If you feel people should have the choice, then I guess your answer is yes. I mean, I'm not gay, but I still think that gay marriage should be legal.

Twilight Wolf

I don't support gay marriage as such, since I believe marriage is a religious union between a man and a woman, but I'm fully in favor of gay civil unions and giving them the same rights as heterosexual couples.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

A lot of marriages today between hetereosexual couples are in fact done under Cvil law, rather than a church. Just for the record.

Let me tell you a story.
When I was in MA, I was forced to live in the same house as my GrandParents. The ones on my Mother's side. Not my Dad's side, because that would make too much sense. The ones on my mother's side. And they are insane, trying to accomplish the impossible by forcing my sister to watch Soap Opera's, wear dresses, etc., becuase that's what "good christian girls" do. As of yet, they have failed. But at the same time, they also dispise each other, in a way, and it's been that way since they got married. In fact, I would often find my grandfather trying to find his name in the obituaries to find his own name for that reason.
I asked him why they couldn't get divorced, and he replies "that's not what Jesus would do." They've been married over 50 years, and they don't even like each other.
However, I remember hearing of this gay couple in some other state, complaining about their innabiltity to marry because of who they are. They loved each other, but they couldn't marry, because "that's not would Jesus would accept", or at least thats how my grandparents would put it.

I ask you: Should two straight people who don't like each other have more right to marriage than two gay people who would give up their limbs to be together?

Hi no Seijin

Huh, Lois Griffen asked that very same question.  Huh, it's kind of funny, because that episode is playing on Adult Swim right now.

But you're right, it really is hypocritical for two heterosexual people who despise each other to get married, but not two homosexual people who genuinely love each other.

Also, I was raised Catholic, and I remember the priest giving sermons about how Jesus was all about love and acceptance of thy neighbor.  This is part of the reason why I grew so disenchanted with Catholicism; apparently, we can only love and accept certain neighbors, not all of them.

TW, part of religion is spiritualism, and that's what marriage is religiously; a spiritual union of two people, or at least that's what I was taught.  Religious union, civil union; really, it's all the same thing.

That similarity is just a coincidence (a very suspicious coincidence.) But I say it because it's true.

I really, really dislike that the people who don't want gay marriage are Christians.

In the Bible it says not to judge.
