Soundtrack?

OK, quick topic, if you could choose a band (or any type of musicians, for that matter) to make a theme song or a whole soundtrack for a Zelda game, which and why?

I'd like to leave the topic open for discusion, this is going to be epic.

PS: If you mention SoaD, you'll get a falcon pwnch in the face.

I'd love it if Michiko Naruke composed the soundtrack for at least one Zelda game.  She did some great work with the Wild Arms series.

John Butler could open the path for a new kind of locale for a Zelda game...he experiments with so many different instruments, it could be a very interesting soundtrack.

Now that I think about it, Howard Shore, the man responsible for The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, might be another good choice.  I can see him using different instruments to give each culture their own unique feel to them.

I don't have any particular choice, but I hope John Williams doesn't make a typically overblown and unbearable score for the series.

Anyway, for me, Yoko Shimomura. Add some Italian or Latin lyrics in there, and all will be an orgasm for my inner fanboy. 'Nuff said.

I always thought his scores were really overdown and lacked any sense of self-control. Even when I liked Star Wars as a little kid, I that the famous score was a pain to listen to. When he does restrain himself, he makes a good score, though, as Close Encounters of the Third Kind proved.

Pesonally, I thought that was the most boring movie in the world. Minimal exaggeration.

Nobuo Uematsu, paired with John Williams, alongside James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer. Those four, with their music rep, would be AWESOME.

I think Maurice Jarre would make a great score. I mean, he made the scores for Lawrence of Arabia AND Doctor Zhivago. Something along the lines of Out of Africa also sounds nice, and a Gone with the Wind-like score could work for scenes ment to be more emotional.

Also... boring? For me, it was far more involving than E.T., which I found to be a tasteless and self-sympathetic scifi ripoff of Shane that completely oversimplified any "issue" it covered, and was drowned to death in mawkishness.

I can't say I disagree. Never really got into E.T. But I never saw the Godfather either.

Gone With the Wind had beautiful music. It would be very fitting, indeed.
