Either way, I'm not quite sure if I want to be here when it happens.

It said the explosion will be visible in amateur astronomers' telescope.  I wonder what time it will hit.

If needed, I could try using Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation to try to see what kind of effect this will have on the moon. However, in all reality, I don't think it will be very drastic.

On the other hand, what would happen if we brought water (if any) to Earth?

Probably nothing noticeable. I mean, astronauts can only take so much, and even in comparison to bodies as large as the moon, the immediate effect would be negligible.

Scientists expect the blast to be so powerful that a huge plume of debris will be ejected.

I just picture a bunch of guys in white coats opening beers and high fiving each other while they stare at the moon from their balcony.

But what would they do with the water? There is no efficient way to bring it here to Earth and getting it to where we want.

I guess they could sustain a colony, but that's it. Just in the Moon.
