It's a scam, in my opinion. College itslef is one huge scam.

In my opinion, businesses use academics in general to scam people. It's a shame. :-*

Your parents were paying taxes to the state to fund the public schools, including the public colleges. If you go to college out of state, your parents haven't been paying that state's taxes. Honestly, it's less of ripping off out-of-staters and more of a good deal for in-staters. Private colleges cost the same for everyone because they get no money from state taxes.

I agree. It isn't a bad system we have in place, but college itself, no matter where you go, is bloated and overpriced.

I definitely agree.
For instance, today I received a letter letting me know that my funding has to be reduced because of a flaw in my school's previously recorded numbers vs the number of students attending Spring term.  I was irritated.

MasterKeyX

Any excuse to drain more cash from the people.

What entity does that sound like...

Business? It's business, right?

[/skepticism]

I meant the government! The federal government is a money pit. Business isn't that bad!

College is fun and exciting |D

Okay so I hate applying for scholarships, but that is my advice. Apply apply appplyyyy. The more you apply for, the higher chance that you win at least some. I've seen a lot of people apply for like... 3 scholarships, then get bummed when they don't get any.

On the other hand, I'm planning on going to an Art/Design school in Colorado, I'm going to try for a degree in Game Art and Design. Luckily, I'm almost guaranteed a spot- they judge based on portfolios, not essays or SAT/ACT scores, and I get an extra semester to build up my portfolio since I won't be applying until next spring~

MasterKeyX

I only applied for 7 schools. Is that enough do ya think?

That is plenty.  I think I only applied to 5 and on of my friends applied to 2.

Graphic Arts FTW. Same degree im going. Cept Im going to CSI instead so its not a Arts/design specific school.   And I think that College sucks.  But it pays off in the end, I guess.

MasterKeyX

You're going to CSI? Like, College of Staten Island?

Dude, I live there.
