Master Goron

In 136, I think that's Zelda. Seriously, and I'm pretty sure it's the person from the cover shot. The robed one. I don't know why, or how, but I have a feeling it is Zelda.

Also, thanks Red! More awesome content. That first one is great!

Marin

Thats what I thought when I saw it MG!

*forgets to breathe*

You know, I may just have to go out and buy myself a gamecube for that one. Wasn't expecting these things... Amazing, amazing! I mean, I want the SOUNDTRACK already! Do my ears deceive me or is that Zelda's Lullaby back there!? And the oboe solo at the beginning... *dies*

Once again, Red, you're a bringer of very, very good news. ^^ Thanks!

As for that being Zelda in shot 136... It's definitely possible. After all, the title is "Twilight Princess," and I doubt that they're talking about the Zora one. :D Eye color is hard to see though...

Red_Fury

When an evil shadow stretches from the heart of Hyrule to its peaceful borderlands, a young farm boy named Link must awaken the hero ... and the animal ... within.

Features

•When Link travels to the darkened land of Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and must scour the land with the help of a mysterious being named Midna.

•Ride into battle against troops of foul creatures, using an incredible horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that must be seen to be believed.

•Many puzzles stand between Link and the fulfillment of his quest, so players must sharpen their wits as they hunt for weapons and items.

•Characters include Link, Zelda, Midna and many others, both new and old.

Link, a young man raised as a wrangler in a rural village, is ordered by the mayor to attend the Hyrule Summit. He sets off, oblivious to the dark fate that has descended upon the kingdom. When he enters the Twilight Realm that has covered Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him break free, and with the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows.

Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he'll have to enlist the aid of friendly folk, solve puzzles and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he'll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna's magic to bring light to the land.

Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows, fight while on horseback and use a wealth of other items, both new and old.

Yay, thanks again! *starts chanting* Red is never overappreciated, Red is never overappreciated! XD

Oh, and a good picture of the fella in ss2 is something I've been needing--how cool!

---

Has anyone heard the theory of Twilight Princess being themed around an old 1985 movie called "Ladyhawke" (I read it at the IGN review)? (In fact, there was a manga based on Ladyhawke called "Twilight Princess"). In it, a woman is a hawk by day while her lover is a wolf by night...

From what I remember, the "night" scenes seem to feature wolf Link, while we have pointy-eared Link wherever green (in the trailers) is present (denoting day?) And we see the (presumed) Twilight Princess in the castle--at night...

The Hat Fairy

Oh, I can't wait! *is pained* I think the whole werewolf deal, while.. different, excites me... I'm a werewolf fan. o_o

Btw, I kinda dislike the name.. "Twilight Princess". But It'll grow on me, I'm sure.

New Info Explosion
The Twilight of the title represents the dark, evil force spreading throughout the world. There will be a light/dark world element to the game with some puzzles requiring you to go back and forth between the worlds. Midna is originally an enemy but teams up to fight a greater evil.

The game has more dungeons than OoT and will be fully orchestrated.

The new Zelda game and it takes place a few decades after OoT, not TWW like everyone thought.

The boomerang he uses in the trailer is called the Gale Boomerang.
'This boomerang houses the Fairy of Winds. On the item screen, set it to Y or X and use that button to throw it! Watch its wind suck things up! Aim at your target and lock on with R.'

You can name the horse.

That creature Link is standing next to in ss2 is a goat.

You can pick a plant and use it to whistle. This calls the bird seen in the trailer, the bird then can be used to attack distant objects.

Squirrels are seen scampering about.

Link can talk to other animals when he is in wolf form and they can teach him new abilities.

Link is seen drinking a red potion. So it seems that potions still in.

The controls are similar to TWW with X and Y as the Item buttons, B is for swinging the sword and A is context sensitive as is R.

When fighting B is used to parry opponents attacks, and when an enemy is on the floor you can use A to do a finishing move. L is used to target. Z is used to gets hints on  the targeted enemy (this might just be for the E3 version)

Link will have use of a Lantern which uses Lantern Oil.

**Possible Spoilers**

Ilia (the girl standing next to the horse) doesn't like Link jumping over fences with the horse and is the Mayor's daughter. She also takes the horse which has been injured (possibly due to jumping over fences) and you have to find her.

You will encounter the boar boss about halfway through the game.

**Spoilers**
Ilia and Colin (the child you see going into the tunnel in the trailer) get kidnapped by the large boar riding creature we have seen and his horn seems to open the gate to the Twilight Realm. Which Link, literally, gets pulled into. This is where the new Legend begins.

These are the videos I gleaned much of my information from:
They are heavy downloads, so I wouldn't recommend clicking them if you have a 56k.

Edit: The first link showed the outside of the E3 building and also a few posters for up coming games. So I removed it.

Jack

Ah Red, you're the best! I hope I don't flatter you too much on the site.

Master Goron

In response to your so request about the game's placement:

According to the Gamespot preview you have a link to(page 2),

"It was also confirmed that this Link is an entirely new incarnation of the hero; he isn't the same character from Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker."
also, and more importantly,
"the team was asked how the storyline of Twilight Princess fits into the overall narrative of the Zelda series. The response was that, chronologically speaking, this game takes place a few decades after Ocarina of Time, but before Wind Waker. Other than that, no immediate details on the overall plot were forthcoming"

Darth Wyndisis

:Storms in and breathes fire:  ARGH! I HATE my stupid computer, or whatever it is that prevents me from seeing those movies!  :Breathes more fire and kicks a can of Diet Pepsi across the room:  Windows Media keeps saying it can't play the file, and I look at the file types it can play, it can play just about everything, including WMV.  WMV stands for Windows Media Vreowerewlkj or whatever!  Darn this thing!  It goes on to say something about how it may not be able to play them because of the way they were encrypted or encoded or some kind of crap.  Yet is offers no real HELP!  I hate computers, they are the DEVIL!  AHHH!  I want to watch those movies!!!  Well, without computers this game wouldn't exist, heh heh.  But all the same.  Anyone else ever have this problem?  :Breathes more fire:  Okay, I'm done, promise.

Master Goron

I don't know, my computer won't play it either, but I'm assuming the problem is with my comp more than anything.

Anyway, it sucks that you and I can't see it.

Then again, I don't think my WMP works anymore :-[ he he...

p.s. Breathing fire doesn't sound healthy if ya ask me!

WMVs usually don't work for me either SL. Thankfully the IGN ones are mpgs and fairly worth looking at.

On a more housekeeping-esque note, since Twilight Princess has a title and some fairly good details about it out, I'm movie this thread over to the new Twilight Princess forum.

<quickie post>
Hey Wyndisis (and MG, and everyone else)--did you mention that you get problems with codecs and encoding and stuff?

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest DivX codec? That tends to solve some problems here and there... usually WMP will direct you to sites to patch your problems, though it doesn't always help.

And, ironically, my computer's video-playing capabilities have been very screwy lately as well. I can't watch most movies here at home, either.

PS. Jack, I think you linked to the old "New Zelda" thread in the General Discussion, in your "5/18: More E3 News/Goodies" news post!
